LouisianaHistory of major depression, lifelong, finally lifted with The Secret and celexa
I’m a smart aleck. Lifelong.
Everyone who knows me has seen it in action. Even positive thinking and gratitude just don’t quell the trickster in me.
So, check it. Yesterday my mom and I are going to the craft store, and as soon as we leave the driveway I hear that dreaded sound. The flat tire. Like pancake flat. We pull over at a gravel lot next to my house and I’m thinking, no biggie, I have a donut and know how to change it, I’m a tough girl. The weather’s perfect, which is a big deal for me since I get heat stroke easily, and I’m not in a hurry, so, pushing my irritation at the delay aside, I just set to work.
Only, we ain’t got the lug wrench. Which is blowing my mind. So, I continue to search through my very messy car, while my mom walks over to a guy we happen to see who just totally blows her off, won’t even listen when she said we can do the work, we just need to borrow a tool for ten minutes. I’m watching vehicles just stream by, ignoring us totally, and I’m trying hard to maintain positivity. Finally, frustrated, I say aloud in a joking way, “I’m so glad people are stopping to help the two ladies on the side of the road in obvious distress. I’m so glad there are still gentlemen”, and I laugh.
And immediately, two trucks and a van pull over to offer to help us. I’m not kidding. Immediately. For half an hour people had been passing us by, but now here the cavalry was.
Apparently, the universe even offers you what you throw out there when you’re joking or sarcastic. All I could do was be grateful and laugh.
To make matters better, one of the guys who stopped to help is a neighbor who sells food at craft shows, and he told me how to get a booth for half price when I go sell my jewelry and leather. Extra added bonus.
