Dream Big

SlovakiaI am a 20 year old woman with a big heart and big dreams.
I always wanted to write a story about The Secret in my life. I was waiting and waiting for something amazing to happen, so I could write it down and share it with other people. The problem was I didn’t realize how many great things have already happened in my life.
It came to me just recently that I should talk about events which happened 3 years ago.
I was in my sophomore year in High School when one day I saw at school this poster talking about studying abroad. It has always been my dream to go to foreign countries and just experience something new. On the very same day I looked up on the internet all the information about exchange student programs and spending a year in the US.
I also told my dad about it. The problem was, we didn’t have money at that time. We were changing windows in our house and the amount of money I would need for this exchange program was way too high.
Even though it was impossible for me to go I was thinking and talking about it every day.
I have to say, my dad supported me and didn’t want me to give up on this. He said if there’s a way, we will find it so I could go. I had to go through a lot of paperwork and it was really hard because my mum was constantly telling me she is not gonna pay for this and that this was a stupid idea.
Luckily I got into the program. The money was still a huge issue and I have no idea how this worked out. We have never had that amount of money. Also, dad’s car broke down so we needed money for that, too.
I felt guilty for having such an expensive dream, but I couldn’t help imagining myself walking around in the US. I had this image in my had every night before I went to sleep. It was this narrow road in the middle of nothing and I knew, I felt certain that I will see that road once I will come to America.
By the time I came to the United States I didn’t realize it happened because of The Secret and LOA. When I came home after this year I looked at my vision board I made a couple of years ago and it came to me. There was this picture of Florida I put on there. I wanted to go to California but I only found a picture of Florida in a magazine so I just thought to myself, close enough. What I didn’t mention before is that while I was in America we traveled around with other exchange students and we also went to Florida for a week and it was the most amazing week of my life.
I am so grateful and so blessed to know this really works. Since then I had a really hard 2 years and I was just so negative all the time. But I am determined to make all of my dreams come true and every time I am struggling to believe I just think of my year in America.
