Doors close so better ones can open
I was in a relationship for almost a year before things started going wrong. He avoided me as much as he could, he never wanted to see me, he’d ditch me for his friends, we went almost two months without contact… I did love him and about a week before we broke up, I pulled The Secret out from my cupboard. I knew it worked for my mum – she got her dream job. So I got out a notepad and a pen and began to write.
At first I wrote about him; how I wanted him to go back to the way he used to be, treat me the way he used to. But after a little while I totally got lost in ideas of what my perfect man would be like, that I was no longer writing about my boyfriend. I was just writing the characteristics of my IDEAL partner, which of course, was nothing like my boyfriend was.
One week later, we broke up. A good friend was there for me from the minute we broke up. His name is Carl and he was always there to talk to and take my frustration out on. I’d had a little crush on him when we were about six, and that started to come back – we’d talk to each other on skype for about 6 hours every night and I noticed how gorgeous he was, how charming and mature he was… suddenly it hit me, and I ran upstairs to look at this notepad I wrote in.
No word of a lie: every single characteristic of my perfect parter I wrote down applies to him. I met up with him yesterday and I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. I cannot wait to see him tomorrow.
I am SOOO happy. I want to thank this book for helping me find my ideal man.
