I heard about The Secret from the Oprah show – god bless that woman – and I decided to watch it. It was a slap in the face literally. It’s just amazing, and after I watched the DVD I decided to buy the book. Ironically my pessimistic father bought it – I had told him about it before and begged him to read it. But he is what he is. I mean, you can’t change people or force them to accept anything.

I went to university, and after 4 months we had a vacation. I returned home and I saw the book right where it was before I left. So I took it with me this time.

I went back to my university, and I read the book almost every day. And I wrote on my closet a big THANK YOU to remind myself to give thanks and gratitude. I started a gratitude journal in which I wrote in it every single day – thanks for the things I have and the things I want to have.

One day I heard about a competition on the radio that involved a great amount of money. In order to win it you must be caller number 101 – after they give a certain sign to start calling, which could happen any day. Can you imagine how hard it’s gonna be?! Anyway, so me and my best friend (also a Secret believer) wanted that money and made a promise to each other that we’re gonna split the cash. The original amount of money in this competition was 2,000, so we printed The Secret Check and wrote on each of them 2,000. And guess what, the next week the same radio station announced that the prize is now up to 4,000. Can you believe that?!

I listened to it 24/7, and I said to myself, this money is mine and it’s already in my bank account. I truly honestly believed that I would be caller number 101.

I placed the check in my wallet and I looked at it every day. When I did that I started to visualize myself having the money. I pretended that I won. I also wrote a buying list and I prepared myself for a huge shopping trip. I was so excited and happy sometimes I would jump or scream like a crazy person. I was as thrilled as if I actually had the money.

Anyway, after 2 weeks of listening to the station I finally heard the sign. I immediately phoned my friend and we started to call. For a long time it was busy, busy, busy, and busy. Me & my friend just couldn’t get the line. But I kept saying to myself, this money is yours, I am caller 101, this check is printed for me. I could hear the number of callers getting closer and closer, and I continued to calm myself by saying, you’re caller number 101… and I believed that from the bottom of my heart. Suddenly there was no busy signal anymore, and I heard someone talking to me. I was speechless for a minute – I needed to hear the voice one more time to be sure. When I heard it again I started talking, she asked me to wait a moment, and then another guy talked to me & started to shout, CONGRATULATIONS, YOU’RE THE WINNER OF THE 4,000!!! And I started to cry … I mean even when you believe it and receive it it’s still shocking to hear it! 😉

It was so astounding. I never won a thing in my life before. I cant wait to have my money. Of course my friend is excited too since she’s having half! loooool Each one of us is having her 2,000 – just like we wrote on our checks.

We can never repay such a gift … and a deep, honest, special thank you to all you people who were generous enough to share their stories that provided me with a powerful determination and strong faith to keep on believing whenever suspicion attacks.
