I had an unsecured credit card with a tiny credit limit. Long term unemployment meant that I was decidedly delinquent to the debt on the card for 3 years. The card was subsequently locked and it’s forced renewal and subsequent fees were auto generated by the terms of the contract.

Before reading The Secret, I had in the last year, a decided flip of my attitude toward, well, everything. Three years of compounded debt on the card made the amount due astronomical and far out of my reach while a tough economy serviced my continued lack of work.

This week I decided that I could no longer hide from the continually growing debt. I went to the bank with no concept of how I would or could approach repayment but I felt confident it would be settled. The teller said “Sir this account was recently closed”. I asked what was the outstanding amount. He said that the debt collections had collected what you I had used as my security to open the account with and the debt was had now been paid in full!

I am now debt free and I have a letter of non-indebtedness from the bank to prove it!! Thank you Universe.

But there’s more! Two years ago a shipment from Amazon was stolen or lost. I accepted Amazon gift cards as repayment from Amazon for the lost items. The amount was $309 USD. Today the unused gift card credit from the same $309 is now $515!!

As children here in the West Indies, adults dismiss our imaginative thoughts as “make believe”, a dismissive term to explain to children that their thought or scenario is impossible and unreal. If only more people recognized the power of those two words together, make believe!
