Although The Secret was unknown to me until now, I had seen it practiced in almost everything. I had always noticed that optimistic people tended to receive much of what they believed in and what they wanted, and pessimistic people received more of what they complained about and what they didn’t want. I have seen it in movies, in books, in mirrors, in ponds, in leaves, in dirt, and in basically everything. But at that time I just didn’t have a name to pin on it. I’m not saying the name is ‘The Secret’… I believe the name for it is different for everyone. To me, the name was Life.

It was amazing; I felt my mind opening up to a different spectrum, and all at once everything fell into place; like all the random, broken pieces of my life, all the seemingly insignificant events in my life, just suddenly had meaning, and had a purpose where I thought there was none at all. All the things I wanted to understand started to emerge from murky waters, and become clearer to me then they had been before. There was a quiet peace, and harmony. To most it may seem absolutely ridiculous, but what if it’s the truth…?

I’m still new to this. I will still have to test this. But I believe that the moment of enlightenment I felt when I grasped the idea itself was the beginning of something greater for me. I feel it, and in feeling it, I’m slowly starting to believe it. This may seem like a small step, but in reality it is the most important, because it’s breaking down the barriers I had built inside my mind for the longest time.

There is a video game I enjoy playing (one I’ve played since I was very little), and this is an example of something so small leading up to something large. In the game (called Gauntlet: Dark Legacy) there is a scroll on one of the levels your character has to traverse, and the scroll says:

“Dare to walk, where no paths are found.”
