Changed Perspective!
Submitted by: Y. D.
England, UK17 year old girl excited at the prospect of my new life ahead!
I am writing this for myself and for anyone who would like to read it. It will serve as a reminder and evidence that the law of attraction works.
Before I knew about the LOA, I thought my life was okay. I had a nice group of friends, a nice family, and a nice boyfriend – or so I thought. However, he had been treating me very badly, and I had put up with it for a long time. This led to us splitting up in April, just two days before my birthday. This was a week when my perspective completely changed – we had been together for two years and three months, and I was really heartbroken.
For my birthday, I received lots of money and lovely things, and one of my newer friends, Meghan, had bought me The Secret. At first, we had a bit of a laugh at the ‘hippy’ attitude of the whole thing, but little did I know then that what she had brought would absolutely change my life.
It took me a month or so to find the time to read The Secret, and when I did, I was so excited. I realized that I had brought all my relationship problems and all my other problems to myself. My best friend and I had been arguing a lot because there was a disagreement between her and my mum, and I let the worry consume me completely.
So as I said, I read the book and I wanted to test this law out. Instead of the feather they suggest you imagine, I imagined a wooden elephant. A specifically textured, engraved elephant that was a particular size, and I imagined myself finding it in a charity shop. I visualized this elephant and then left it. I kind of forgot about it. In reality, I let it go!
At the time, I had just been made redundant from my first job and was feeling frustrated because it had taken me nine months to get this job. I now know this was also brought on by my own actions!
Meghan and I decided to use The Secret to get a job. We both decided we would work together in a clothes shop called Blue Inc. near our home. We both handed in our CVs and came out and said, ‘In a week, we will both have the job and be working together.’ This was a Thursday.
The next day, the shop rang each of us, offering us both an interview for the job on the same day and at the same time. It was a Tuesday and we thought it would be a group interview. It was not! It was a paired interview, and the whole interview was based on getting to know each other. We already knew each other very well, so naturally, we aced the interview. We both had a phone call the next day and were both offered the job, and our first shift would be the upcoming Friday, just one week after we said we would do it!
Our manifestation had happened.
However, after we had our interviews for the shop, Meghan was meeting her mum. She asked if I wanted to come along – and I said yes, even though I knew it would add extra time to my journey. We met her mum, and I said hello, and then they left. I felt inclined to go into a particular shop, a charity shop, as it happens. I walked in, bought a dress, then walked out. And then I felt an instinct to go back in. I walked straight to the ornament shelf and there on the shelf was my elephant!!
I was actually shaking. My heart was racing, and my pulse was through the roof. This thing really does work!
I bought the elephant there and then, and now, I have a host of elephant-themed things to remind me constantly of where I started and where I am going, the most important is my lucky elephant ring.
So we began our new job, and we were both grateful at first to be earning money, but then things started to go badly. We were made to do overtime without being paid extra, we were untrained, and we were treated very badly. I decided I would still be grateful and be happy for the job. Every shift I went to, I would say ‘thank you for this wonderful shift’, and because my mood was one of gratitude, every shift was brilliant. It was quite funny, actually. Everyone who worked there was always miserable, and they used to think I was on something to find life such a wonderful thing, of course, I knew I wasn’t.
So one day, I was walking home from work and I walked past this restaurant that was being built. I had seen it on several occasions and thought (in my head and had never told anyone else), ‘I would love to work in a restaurant.’ In fact, since I had left school, I wanted a waitress job. So I was walking and this old man was outside the restaurant, and we talked. He told me all about his new restaurant and when it would be opening. He was a very nice man and I was happy. I said to him, in a jokey way, ‘If you have any waitress jobs, let me know!’ to which he replied, ‘You can have one’. I had just been walking home from work, in a happy, grateful state, and I had been offered my perfect job. In the street. Just like that. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I quit my job at the shop and started working there two weeks later. I was there for the opening night and met many nice people. I absolutely love the job. Everything about it is perfect. The people I work with treat me very well; I get given free food and free drinks, I get excellent pay and great tips, and I get to meet so many lovely people all the time. If there is a night I want to go out, I can always go without question. They treat me so well!
So yes, the law of attraction really does work! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
