London UKI am a mother of four. A practicing turban wearing Sikh. My education and background is in film but I left this industry to follow my purpose and be a birthing doula. On Instagram I am known as Sikhmum and share my realities of motherhood. I am co founder of the the first online sikh parenting platform.
This week has been a whirlwind. I have had a lot of medical appointments to investigate a shadow on my left lung.
All week I have worked on my gratitude practice to manage my mind and not get into a state of negativity and anxiety.
On Thursday, we were on our way to the CT scan appointment and got stuck in a standstill traffic jam. I was so scared I would miss the appointment and have to wait for another appointment. I started saying thank you to the imaging department for seeing me and believed that even as a late patient they would see me. We somehow drove over the island on the road and went another way. We were 17 minutes late but I kept saying, thank you for scanning me, thank you for scanning me, thank you for scanning me. When I arrived, I was walked around to the CT department and the receptionist was so kind and said, let me see if they will see you as you are quite late.
Lo and behold, they agreed to see me and I was in immense gratitude. I looked everyone in the eye and thanked them and even completed a department feedback form to express my thanks.
Believe and it works! A similar thing happened today when I came for an ultrasound scan. My appointment was moved and I didn’t realize it. I kept saying in my mind, please let them see me today. And the receptionist came over to my husband and me and said that the sonographer on duty only scans children but will scan you today. I am in immense gratitude.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
