Beggars Can Be Choosers!
Submitted by: Ashoke
IndiaI am self employed and love traveling. Mediating is a part of me and I enjoy and value life and all it has to offer.
Heartfelt thank you to Ms. Rhonda Byrne, The Secret team and all wonderful souls who post their experiences and guidance to help newcomers to LOA.
Before I begin, I wish to clear a point that I do not like to use the word beggar, I prefer to use the word needy, but in this post I have used the word beggar, an expression which might get across easily to everyone.
This post is not about me but certainly an experience I would never forget. I travel a lot for work and during a visit to an outstation city, I was waiting at a point for someone to pick me up. There was a middle aged beggar who approached me and I gave her two coins of INR.5 totaling to INR.10.
Just then another beggar also approached me and before I could give her something, Beggar No.1 gave Beggar No.2 one coin of INR.5 which I had given her. Since beggar No.1 seemed to be nice human being, I asked her why did she part with INR.5 to someone else, since she is begging herself, was the Beggar No.2 related to you? Beggar No.1 replied that she had never seen beggar No.2 in her life time, hence I again asked her why did she part with her share. Beggar No.1 replied, Sir, you just wait for 5 minutes and see how I am given 5 times of what you gave me just by parting INR.5.
It was amazing to see her confidence especially in the morning hours when hardly many people were around. I had to wait since I was to be picked from that point. In minutes I saw her collecting and just then the vehicle that was to pick me up had arrived. I asked the driver to park the car, it is very difficult to get parking space as most of the area was a no parking zone. I waited to see something I had never got a chance to experience. True enough in 5 minutes Beggar No.1 counted and showed me that she was given a total amount of INR.50.
I asked her how was she so confident that she would get that much in a specific time, she replied; I know the power of gratitude and giving. The conversation I had, then lengthy, which was based on LOA taught by memsahib (memsahib means Maâam), who I connected was Ms. Rhonda Byrne. For a moment I was in total state of shock with words like WHEN, WHERE, HOW crossing my mind this teaching reached her. I had to remind myself that these words are best left to The Universe and we should not cross check on them. Let us do our part and the universe do the rest. I did this for a long time after the experience, to get back to the LOA mode. One thing is for sure, next time I am in that city, I will go to see her there, I am surely going to learn and experience more.
I have read The Secret, The Power, The Magic and presently going through Hero, heard audio books and watched videos. I also recall my father teaching some facets from these, as I lost my father at a very young age. This was a live and a priceless experience for me and learning it from a needy. This is the power of giving. This made my perspective towards life even firmer and to apply it in everything I do, surely with genuine love and gratitude, and never to underestimate anyone.
Life is all about learning. Be positive and open to take in what life offers or teaches you.
With much love to you all and thank you Ms. Byrne.
