I’ve gone through a really rough year this year, and I was lucky enough to hear about The Secret through Oprah’s show back in June. I was amazed at The Secret, but instantly felt overwhelmed by the thought that I could have or be anything I wanted.

I had success with text messages, peacock feathers, etc., and set about thinking about what I really wanted in my life (having been laid-off from my job a couple of months before and finding it hard to find work). I wrote down what I really wanted, and thanked the universe for everything I already had. In the mean time I needed a job to get me back on my feet, so I ended up going to work for a well known bank in their call centre. I instantly knew this wasn’t for me, as I’ve always struggled with numbers and maths. A major part of the job was selling, which is also a weakness! 🙁 During the training I was coming home crying most nights, talking about how I didn’t want to be there, and how this job wasn’t for me. I felt sick every time I had to answer a call. Needless to say I lasted a month!! Everything about the way I spoke, acted, felt, screamed: “I don’t want this job!” And guess what??? YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND!! When they told me to hand in my notice I was shocked and in tears, but when I saw The Secret book on my bed at home, I totally understood… the universe works both ways! I was so convinced the job wasn’t for me and spoke it so confidently, that the genie popped up and granted my wish – unemployment!

I hoped I could write a happy story, but I think this is just as important. I seem to have no problem in thinking the worst, but the good is a lot harder. I’ve always known I could do great things, but I seem to almost sabotage myself and end up back at square one, sad and feeling sorry for myself! 🙁

The day I had to leave my job there was an advert in the paper for a media course (which ties in with my order to the universe!), so I’ve applied and truly believe this is the universe bringing me my order. I just have to learn a few lessons along the way!! xxx
