Attitude Of Gratitude.
I read The Secret a number of years ago, and then 2 summers ago I read The Magic. The power of positive thinking and gratitude has transformed my life. Even when bad things happen, I can usually find a positive spin or even the thought that “This too shall pass.”
When I read The Magic, I began keeping a gratitude journal, per the magical practices of the book. Everyday, I try to write at least 10 things for which I’m grateful. Some days, I am successful. Some days, I struggle. At times, I forget, but it has become a habit overall. What I’ve found is that life is much happier. I am on my 3rd journal.
One of the things that I do in my gratitude journal is write my top 10 desires at the front of the journal. I have already achieved one, a friendship I had been really trying to cultivate into more than just an acquaintance relationship. I believe the others will follow suit.
I find that the biggest change is that because I find joy and gratitude in even little things, lots of good things seem to occur. Today, for instance, I thought I was out of coffee and there is a blizzard. I thought to myself, “I’ll check the pantry just in case.” I had no other reason to “believe” that there would be coffee in the pantry but there in the top, hidden underneath some other things, was a small bag of coffee bought from years ago that had somehow been overlooked. It was like someone had gifted me a present!
I also find that my marriage and my relationship with my children are so much happier. My husband and my kids are on every gratitude list in my gratitude journal. I find joy in having them rather than focusing on the things about them that annoy me.
Gratitude has transformed my life. I would recommend keeping a journal and trying to do it daily. Don’t worry about repeating yourself. I do constantly because I am truly grateful for those things everyday!
