The first time I saw the video of The Secret was when I was at University back in 2007. I was a third year university student who was waiting to start my life. My entire future was just lying ahead. This video had a deep impact on me. It inspired me to think about it more, to read more, and finally, to start visualizing. I had so many dreams about my dream job, love, marriage, children, and the place I was going to live.

At first, what I got was not really what I wanted, but I never stopped saying thank you and believing. After some time, I had to move to a different city, and at that point, I had no job. I was kind of desperate and went to many, many interviews, even those that were below my qualification level. However, in the end, the Universe worked its charm, and I got a good job, with a reasonable salary. I remember asking the Universe to give me this job because I really, really needed it. That was the turning point in my life, although it was not really related to what I was doing earlier. It was new knowledge, in a new area.

A year after I was promoted, my salary was doubled, and another year later I left the place due to a bad boss. I was without work for 3 months, and desperate again. But I never lost hope, nor did I stop being grateful and asking.

Then I got a job that changed my whole life. I got an amazing team to work with. Within one year I was one of the most recognized employees in the company and after another year I got promoted and assigned to work directly with and under the CEO. I along with my team, built a remarkable program for the company, getting it internationally recognized, back-to-back for the first time in the company’s history. I was recognized in my field, in the sector, and also in the country. For a nobody from a small village, this was a huge achievement.

Then I got to go to an even better place to work and finally, life took me to Australia where I live now. I was one of the most achieved individuals, and there were very few females in my University batch. I got recognized several times at my own University, for which I am very thankful and proud of.

The Universe has answered me so well, giving me more and more. It has given me my dream home near a beautiful lake in Sri Lanka with a wonderful view of the skyline in Colombo. In Australia, I also live in a beautiful place, a prime location, with a lot of flowers, nature, and also a vintage mailbox among the flowers, just as I always wanted. Even my smallest wishes came true. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And as for love, I was suffering from a bad relationship that was draining me, silently torturing me, and making me continuously feel unhappy and worthless. I was pleading to the Universe to give me someone who could love me for what I am and someone who could just give me some kindness, love, and peace. I failed once, was deceived, and was left depressed. But come to think of it now, I think that was the baseline, the lesson I was given to understand what I really wanted.

I met my current partner in one of my workplaces. Initially, we were just friends and he has been so caring, helpful, and very friendly. We had opportunities to get to know each other and one day he expressed his love for me. Even then I asked the Universe to give me a sign that this was ‘the one’. It was the most beautiful of signs. I and my partner were standing under a flowery tree and we were just going to go back to our homes at the end of the day. This was the day he started expressing his feelings for me. He was standing by my side and saying something about his feelings for me. Then at that exact point, there was a small splash of water that fell from the tree above us, on both of us. As if someone was blessing us with holy water. We both were so amazed, and I felt so wonderful. It was the sign!

Today I am the happiest and luckiest person on earth with him by my side. He has shown me the beauty of true love. He treats me like a queen and has literally given me a fairy tale love story. We have been having the most wonderful of times together, doing everything we like. He taught me to be brave, courageous, and most importantly, be me. He made my life vibrant. Now we are working on getting him to this country and I am looking for a new job since I just got here. I know the Universe has a plan and I believe in it.

I am sharing my story to say that, The Secret is so true. The power of the Universe is real. When you really want something, the Universe conspires for you to have it. So never stop asking, believing, and being grateful!! It has worked for me in all aspects of life so it will for those who believe too.
