I work at an elementary school library that was built in the 1980’s so the furniture is very outdated. Due to the Covid 19 protocols, I decided to get rid of the old, round tables and just have my students sit in evenly spaced chairs and use clipboards as needed. I had been asking for new, modern desk tables that can be arranged with more possibilities, but there was not enough money in the budget. So, I set up a ‘donorschoose’ hoping to get enough donations to buy the new furniture but I only received a couple small donations. I decided to have a book fair at the end of the year to try to raise money towards the furniture, which I was able to do, but it still was not enough.

I had an evaluation meeting with my principal and we ended up talking about how to get funds for this to happen. We were going to use money from 3 different sources combined. However, later that night I opened my email to find a huge surprise. The PTA wants to totally fund my new furniture purchase! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
