First and foremost I am a gaming fanatic! Everyone in my family saw me as a game freak… much to my pleasure, of course. Ever got stuck in a game? I’d be the bastard to show you how pathetically easy it is to get by.

So I owned a Playstation 2. This was way back in 2007, and Playstation 3s were just coming out in Namibia. The prices were sky high; I believe it was close to N$6000 for us. Fat chance of me getting one, right? Wrong!

I got this poster in one of my gaming mags of a 60gb chrome-lined limited edition Playstation 3. So I put it up on my wall and every time my friends came over, I´d tell them, “I’m going to get one of those soon.”

In the mornings when I woke up I’d look at the poster and tell myself I’d get one soon. How? I did not know, but soon.

So close to the end of the year, I’m writing my grade 9 exams, and my mother went on holiday with her husband to Spain. I was pissed because I couldn’t go with. So a week before my mom flies back, she tells me she bought me a Playstation 3. Her tone was matter-of-fact. I couldn’t believe my ears. I told her I didn’t want anything… But this was super!!!!

To add to the joy… it was a 60gb chrome-lined Playstation 3.

I am eternally grateful to the universe for giving me the ultimate gaming pleasure.
