I submitted the original “My Miracle Heart” story almost four years ago. In it, I described how by using the visualization and affirmation techniques I learned in “The Secret”, I was able to heal myself from a genetic life-threatening heart disease. Where my cardiologist had proof of my quickly deteriorating life-threatening condition, I now had new tests showing a perfectly normal, healthy heart!

Now I have a new story: the most amazing thing happened two weeks ago – I actually helped saved a life!!! I was in a conference room with 100 people at a convention when a man had a massive heart attack. I was in the front one third of the room and he was in the far back. I turned to see what was happening. Everyone else in the back was getting up and moving AWAY from him. Just looking at him I could tell he was having a heart attack. I couldn’t get through all the people now standing up, so I was hurdling chairs (in my heels!) heading back about eight rows to get to him (I say “hurdling”, but it was more like stepping/jumping/tripping from seat to seat. Wasn’t pretty!). I didn’t see anyone with their phones so I looked at a group of people and said, “Call 911”. I also told others to go downstairs to get EMT (I never notice anything. You could park a Volkswagen in my living room and it would take me a week to realize it, but somehow the day before I noticed an EMT sign on a door downstairs past the escalators in this massive convention center. Weird). I got another guy to help me get him on the floor then checked for a pulse and breathing, etc.

He went unconscious quickly and his breathing was super shallow and his pulse was hard to even detect. I thought he stopped breathing a couple of times, then he would gasp for air once every couple of minutes. He then turned blue and I lost his pulse. I started performing CPR and then soon after, a dentist who said he was certified in CPR came into the room and said, “I got it,” and took over doing compressions as well. EMT FINALLY got there (after almost 20 minutes of us working on him. Inexcusable.), and shocked him and used the bag to make him breathe then got him to the hospital.

His wife called me later that evening (she ended up with my glasses after I threw them off next to him to do CPR). He was in ICU and they weren’t sure if there would be brain damage. The wife thanked me profusely and said she’d keep me informed as to how he progressed in the next few days. Turns out he was in a coma for a couple of days, but came out of it and soon after, started breathing on his own, no permanent brain damage and following more surgery, he’s expected to be fine!

The amazing thing is that my mom proactively made me go to a CPR class when I was thirteen, “just in case”. Since then I have always rehearsed CPR in my head so I would remember if I ever needed it. I didn’t want to be in a situation where I couldn’t help because I didn’t remember how to do CPR. The weird thing is that I sometimes remember to ask God/Universe to put me in situations where I can help someone, and it actually happens occasionally, especially after last Christmas Eve. We went to a late church service and found out that a member of the choir in the earlier service had a heart attack. I asked if anyone performed CPR on her, and they said no. I was seriously so mad for days that I wasn’t there, knowing that I would have been able to help. I visually rehearsed in my head what I would have done if I had been there. I have really prayed since then specifically that in the future, if anyone was going to have a heart attack, that they have it near me so I could help. So amazing that it actually happened less than four months later!!!

I don’t know if it was the mental rehearsal or what, but I did just what I should have done today, and despite my adrenaline, was focused and clear throughout it. Of course, fifteen minutes after it was over I instantly burst into tears unexpectedly. I think the shock wore off and the realization and emotion hit me. It was a sick and surreal feeling the second he stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating. I realized he was actually dead with his head in my hand.

So ironic and bizarre and cool that my (former) issues were with my heart and I was able to help save a heart attack victim’s life! I’m so grateful for the experience to be able to help and am so amazed that what I prayed for came true! I look forward to being put in more situations where I can help (I know it’ll continue to happen! 😉
