My story starts in 2011 when I first discovered The Secret. I found it on a street bookstall in Mumbai, the cover grabbed my attention and I instantly knew I had to read it. However I became distracted with my pending nuptials in July of that year, so I didn’t actually get round to reading it until 2012. That’s when my life changed, literally changed. It wasn’t an instant “ta-da” change, but rather a slow progressive change that has brought me to this point where I can honestly say I do not recognise the person and my life before then. The first few years were about mastering the self-doubt, constant battles in my mind about what’s “real”, self-criticism and the frustration of why life was not changing instantly. More and more books and teachers came into my life that just kept picking me up when I was about to give up, pushing me to dig deeper into myself and discover who I really was. I mean really was, flaws and all.
I then discovered the natural healing art of Reiki and that propelled me into a different way of being. It slowly dawned on me that it wasn’t just a case of changing my thoughts, The Secret was paying attention to how my thoughts made me feel, to love myself more and more every day and to know that the it’s only the present moment that matters, not the past or future. We already have everything we want, we just need to claim it by getting out of the way and let it happen. Much harder than it seems and it is something I am still learning and practising. But once you start, it is like a thousand light bulbs suddenly go off and you can see clearly for the first time.
There are signs and messages all around us, all you have to do is watch out for them, follow your instinct and take action that feels good. Don’t give up. It may take time but every moment spent on this practise is bringing you closer and closer to your dreams.
