First of all, I am an 18 year old girl from El Paso, Texas who recently graduated with all of my dreams coming true. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I used to doubt myself heavily when it came to my knowledge of math. In high school, I was very hardworking and would mostly turn in all my assignments on time. This leads me to my first success in passing the Math TSI. It was one of my big goals before graduating since I did not want to take remedial courses in college. I took it about 6 times and every time I failed by 1 point. I was losing hope until I began believing in myself and got to studying. I kept reassuring myself that I would pass it on my last try which was the last week of high school. And on top of that, I believed I would pass the first 20 questions.
I was so pumped to take my test and I passed the first 20 questions! I was so shocked and overjoyed! All the stress I was carrying from that went away with my faith in myself and a positive outlook. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Secondly, I made the top ten percent, and that had been my goal when I first entered high school. However, because of the COVID situation, I was afraid that my rank had been bumped down by new students. It was towards the end of the school year and the day of exchanging gowns when I got a call from a counselor telling me that I was top ten percent! All of my family and I were ecstatic! Thank you, thank you, thank you! During the time prior to getting that call, I was getting doubtful but I was also getting words of assurance from my boyfriend.
My third success and most important one was becoming a certified clinical and administrative medical assistant in high school! Since I was in a Heath program throughout high school, I got to pursue that career and take my certification exam which I passed with flying colors! I am very grateful that not only am I a high school graduate but I graduated with a career set for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Fast forward to the next day of the last day of school. While cleaning my room I found an old note that I had written to myself and had forgotten about. It had all of those goals I had now achieved, written down on a list!
1. To be an AB honor roll student ✔️
2. Pass my Math TSI ✔️
3. Pass all my exams ✔️
4. Graduate in the top ten percent ✔️
5. Pass my CMA certification ✔️
It felt like magic that all of my goals were completed in the nick of time. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I am now a graduate and will be attending college in the fall to pursue a Business degree. P.S. I have more confidence in math now!
