I watched The Secret movie earlier in 2010. It was suggested to me by a friend but I didn’t watch it completely. However, in 2012 when I was going through a difficult phase in my life and was with my family trying to get over the grief, I suddenly remembered The Secret movie. I remembered that it was something about manifesting your dreams. I found it online and watched it again properly with my family. I realized that I had already manifested something in my life long before I knew about The Secret. So, here is my story.

It was the year 2007, 1 year after the documentary was released and 3 years before I came to know about The Secret documentary from a friend. I was preparing for the NIFT entrance exam which is India’s top institute for design aspirants. I wanted to secure good marks and a good rank so that I could choose the best center and my favorite department. That just happened to be Fashion Design from NIFT, Delhi. The Fashion Design department had 30 seats so in order to get even the last seat I needed to rank 30 or less than 30 to be safe. Ever since I came to know about this, my mind was stuck on a rank of 30, otherwise, I would not get what I wanted.

For the next 6 months, while was studying, while I was sleeping, and while I was eating, rank 30 was always in my head. I saw students in my coaching classes getting better marks, and getting appreciated by teachers but I believed in myself and also, that my ultimate goal was to secure the best marks, not to impress these people. After I cleared the first exam I was still thinking about rank 30 all the time. Then after the second and final round, I was more positive and confident.

Finally the results came and guess what my rank was? All India Rank 30! Not 29, not 31, exactly 30. My family and I were all surprised. I remember they said that I actually wanted this number, didn’t !? And see, I got it.

That was one of the happiest moment of my life. I believe if you decide that you want something, you can and you will achieve it.
