A Wish Come True

Johannesburg, South AfricaI am a public relations officer for an earthmoving equipment company. I have a great passion for animals and where possible, rescue injured or lost animals. Some of them I have taken into my home where I have nursed them back to health. All three pets in my home (a dog and two cats) are either rescues or strays.
It’s a busy Friday morning and I am anxious to get through my workload before the weekend begins. As I look up at my computer screen, a picture of a beautiful ginger cat with white markings on the chest and around the mouth appears on the screen. I told my colleague to have a look at the picture on my screen and said: “Oh, I wish I could have another ginger cat again.”
That evening I took my dog for a walk and there was this ginger cat that I had never seen before right outside my townhouse. I gave her some food, which she ate, and did not see her again until about a month later.
We had just returned from vacation when I saw the same ginger cat and again some food was left out for her. The sliding doors of the sun room are always left open and the next morning – there was this ginger cat lying on the carpet – she had decided to move in.
Two years later and “Whiskers” is still with me. She looks exactly like the picture I saw on my computer screen that Friday morning. I attracted more than just a ginger cat into my life. I attracted a ginger cat who is in total harmony with my lifestyle. I feed the wild birds in my garden every day and never has Whiskers ever tried to catch or chase a bird. She is happy with just a bowl of milk and some kitty chunks, which again is in sync with my vegetarian lifestyle.
