I began to see things differently. I have two children and began to ask for a better life for them. We were currently living in a cramped one bedroom apartment, but I was always thankful. I shared everything – I had always lent a ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on.

On Memorial Day weekend I came to visit my aunt in Albany. She’s been living there for 17 years, and not once had I gone, so I went for the weekend. My kids loved it – they cried when we had to return home. When we arrived home I explained to my husband how he had missed out, we had the time of our life, and I told him I would like to move out there in the future. So we decided to return on the 4th of July – this time with my husband. He too loved it. I said, “I wish I was able to get a job out there – I would definitely go.”

Well, one day my aunt calls and says, “There’s this house for sale you need to buy it.” So I go online and I try to buy it, however our finances were not right at that time. My boss sees me looking at the house and says, “Where is that?” I say, “Albany.” He says, “You’re moving?” I say, “One day.” He says, “I have a position available. If you want it, it’s yours.” I say, “WOW!” and accept the position.

I began looking for rentals. I found one that I loved, told my aunt about it, and she says she was gonna buy that house a few years ago – she knows the owner.

I told the owner I only could rent for a year because I’m looking to buy a house. He says, “Well, I’m only renting for a year – I’m planning on selling it, and if you decide to buy it I will give you a good offer.” I say, “Wow!” Later in the conversation he says, “I know you have a job, but how ’bout your husband? He seems like a nice young man.” I say, “He’s looking for a job.” He says, “My brother owns his own flooring company if he wants the job it’s his.”

My husband was unemployed for the last 2 years, and here we are in one day with a house and two jobs.

Later on that week I was given as a gift the book The Secret. I have read it two times. I never realized that I attracted all these things. And here we are, with our eyes on one day owning the house we are renting….
