I first encountered The Secret movie about 6 years ago when a woman that I was dating brought it over for us to watch together.

It struck a cord with me immediately, because I have always been successful in love and I finally realized why! I a€™m rarely the best looking man in the room, nor the most charismatic, nor richest, and certainly not the funniest. But I have always had a very strong belief that I would never have problems being surrounded by women. And so it has been, ever since I was a little kid going to middle school dances sometimes with more than one date. Whether great friends or lovers, there have always been wonderful women in my life.

As you can imagine my male friends have always wondered what the heck was going on. I ha€™ve had numerous people ask me directly why women seemed drawn to me for no apparent good reason. I just laugh and shrug. Finally The Secret gave me my answer, it was just because I believed that it would be that way.

You cannot believe my excitement when I came to the realization that I could now take this concept and apply it to other aspects of my life that had not been so fulfilling. I seriously called about 10 people the next day and exclaimed to them that my love magnet was real, and that now I knew how to become a money magnet as well.

I have led a very fortunate life and have a lot to be grateful for. But as with a lot of people of my generation, many of us feel a bit lost “in the Matrix”. I have seen so many people that get stuck in the world of cubicles and are just trying to figure out how to get past living paycheck to paycheck. All the while just living for the weekend. Even those that have achieved a lot of success financially aren’t in love with their job, and they experience many stresses which have led to health issues and general displeasure with life. I also have friends that do have a job that they love, but it isn’t very lucrative so they tend to struggle more financially. I feel that it is very rare for someone to find a vocation that they love and that also provides them with financial freedom. I find it very sad that the two seem to be so rarely married, but that has been the experiences of many that I know.

So that was my new journey, finding the path to financial freedom and abundance both in time and money. And I had no idea where it would lead me.

A few months later I met the woman that I would come to marry. And she was also a student of The Secret. She had a lot of the same yearnings as myself. She also worked in the corporate world, but wanted to find a way to make money that still allowed the freedom of time. We both love to travel and do outdoor activities with our dogs.

We both had great jobs, but did not want to be inside all day, working for something that we didn’t feel passionate about. But what to do?! We began what I call a Meditation Bootcamp. Asking for spirit guides and angels of abundance to assist us and guide our way.

Eventually things started to fall into place. My wife’€™s family are all involved in different aspects of the real estate industry and through speaking with them at family gatherings and holidays we finally realized that we could go into residential redevelopment (house flipping). We wanted to do something that would benefit our community while providing us with the financial resources to have more free time to do the travelling and other things that we love. Most importantly, we wanted to be able to share our time and money with our loved ones and to help them achieve their dreams. We had the contacts and we knew that we could find the financial resources to make it happen.

I started to study the administrative side of the business while my wife focused on networking with others who were already doing what we wanted to do. Everything started to snowball very fast as more and more pieces fell into place. At times it was almost scary, because it seemed like every day something new would happen. I worked very hard at keeping my confidence that we were on the right path, and that this was all meant to happen. I held steadfast to the belief that only good would come out of the decisions that we were making.

One exercise that I preferred and still do to this day was while walking my dogs around our neighborhood I would look at the houses and imagine how I could improve them. I thought about how much that would improve the neighborhood in general, how we would raise property values for the whole street, literally making money for people that we would never meet. I pictured people loving our homes and raising their families there.

Very soon people literally started calling us offering to give us money to buy real estate, and others were calling wanting to sell us their distressed homes at huge discounts.

I always wondered who those people were that I would see eating brunch on a Tuesday. Now we are those people!

I must also add that one of the things that I love the most now is opening mailers from charities, which I used to consider “junk mail”, and being able to send off a check to them.

And all we had to do was trust the Universe.
