2011, What a Year!
Submitted by: Con
Ireland27 year old, read The Secret and The Power, enjoying life at the moment and thankful for all the good things that have come into my life as a result.
Hope everyone is well and thanks for taking time to read my story. I read The Secret back in 2007. I remember when I read it, it was hard to comprehend (well in my mind it was!) I tried, applied and failed. I was in a music store one day and I saw the DVD. A friend of mine told me about it and she was due to lend it to me, but being impatient, I bought it that day and watched. When I saw the DVD, the book made sense!
I started to apply The Secret over the last few years. I remember when The Power came out, that gave me a kick start again. Last year I had a few goals that I wanted to achieve. My main goal was to go back to college. For me I wanted to go back to college more than anything else in the whole wide world. I read The Power and I watched The Secret DVD. I really wanted this, so I put it out to the universe. I remember one part of the DVD saying ” I know, like I know, like I know, this is going to happen!” And that is what I did! I had no money and I didn’t know how I would pay for the course, I just believed a way would be provided for me.
I applied in April and I got an acceptance letter from the college. It said they would see me in September. So from April to September, I gave all my focus to the college. This involved me speaking with the lecturers on the course, going on to the college campus, walking around it and having a coffee, going on the college website on a daily basis, buying a bag for college and notepads and pens.
The end of August came and I got a call from the college. I still hadn’t managed to get the money together for the course. I explained this to the head of the course. He told me “come in, and I could stay until October” He said something I thought was odd – “I’m sure that money will come your way soon”. After speaking with my boyfriend and a few friends I decided to ask my boss for an advancement to pay for the course. I didn’t think he would say yes. I went in and asked him. Immediately he said yes. I went back to my desk and cried tears of gratitude! My life was beginning to change and in a big way!
During that period of time I was also moving in with my boyfriend. We found the perfect house. It was beside the sea, 200 metre walk to the beach, gated community, in the countryside, and a short commute from work. The house is perfect and everything and more than what I could ever ask for or want. When we moved in we wrote down a list of things that we wanted for the house. On the list we had a slow cooker, a coffee press pot, casserole dish, a wok and items for the house. On the night of our house warming we had a party and invited our friends over. We got all the items we wrote down on the piece of paper. I was gobsmacked. I was so thankful and grateful for all the beautiful presents. We never said anything to any of our friends, it was like they just knew and got them for us.
Christmas was brilliant this year as well. There was a few presents I wanted for Christmas but I am a shy person so I would never tell people what I wanted this year. I got what I wanted – a James Bond boxset of all his movies, a superdry jacket, and aftershave I have wanted. I think at times I am stunned, and things take me back a bit. The best Christmas present of all in 2011, was when I proposed to my boyfriend and he said yes. I was searching for a ring since October and it was so hard to find it. On the 23rd of December I got a perfect ring. I was outside a jeweller shop and I went in and there it was the most perfect ring. On the 28th of December I popped the question. I was so nervous but I am the happiest man in Ireland at the moment.
These are just some of the things I have experienced. I wish nothing but the best for anyone who reads this. Never give up, you don’t know what is around the corner. Have unwavering faith. Best wishes to you all in 2012 and to The Secret Team!
