Paying Off Loan Payment, Attracting Laptop
Submitted by: Anna Ramos
Chicago, ILI'm a 37 yr old Filipina living in Chicago. I graduated last June 2009. I've been living The Secret for a long time. It really works. The true secret I believe is to trust God, only believe, and wait patiently.
Hi everyone. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here, but belated merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking about purchasing a laptop so I can do freelance work and use it to apply for jobs without the pressure of the time limit that the public library has. I thought it was a waste of gas to be driving to the library everyday only to use it for 2 hours.
Well, in September last year, I created a new vision board. One of the things that I clipped on there was a picture of a Mac book pro lap top. I didn’t know how I would buy it considering that I didn’t have a job yet or savings. So every time my friend and would visit the Apple store, I would imagine that I owned one of those Mac books. I also visualized it in my possession. Another thing that I did while using the internet in the library, I would imagine that the computer I was using was a Mac Book lap top. I also keep thanking God for everything that he has blessed me with including my PC desktop at home and for the public library allowing people to use the computers and internet.
In December, I made a note on my cell phone that I want a Mac Book Pro for Christmas and God will get it for me. Around Christmas, I read a book called The Aladdin Factor by Jack Canfield. I read in one of the chapters that you should ask someone you know who could give you what you want. I was hesitant to ask my friends and family, because I was scared of what their response would be. I was scared to ask my aunt, because she might yell at me. In the book, it says that before you get anything you want, you have to let go of the fear. Once you get over the fear, new doors will open up for you for more challenges. But these challenges are just more fears that you have to get over with before you get what you really want.
So, I decided to ask a friend of mine. He was willing to help but he too has responsibilities that would hinder him from lending me the money I need to buy a lap top. I asked my aunt when she was in a somewhat good mood if she could lend me money to buy a lap top and I would pay her back as soon as I found a job. She asked me how much? I said $3000. She was surprised that a lap top would cost that much. Well, I couldn’t apply for a credit card because I don’t have a job. Anyway, she said that if I want, I should ask my cousin who owed her money. I was hesitant again, because my aunt and cousin are not in good speaking terms. I was scared she would say “no”.
I waited a day or two before I asked her. I told her that I really need it. I didn’t hear from her for a few days. I was really nervous. I prayed to God to help me, to talk to my cousin for me. Well, after a few days, my cousin called and told me that I could pick up my money the following week. I was so happy. But then, my aunt started to be in a bad mood everyday because she needed some money for something important. I was scared that once my cousin lent me the money, my aunt could change her mind and I wouldn’t be able to buy a laptop.
Anyway, I also have been worried about where to get money to buy software, more memory, buy prepaid credits for my cell phone, and student loan payment that was fast approaching. If I bought the Mac Book Pro, that will cost me around $2,800 with tax and warranty. So, I asked one of my friends if he could find a windows based lap top that had better specs than the Mac Book Pro. Well he did found one which is a Dell and it was under $2K. I was debating which one to get. Some people told me not to get a PC laptop and some told me to get a Mac. Since I already have a windows PC at home I wanted a Mac.
Well, finally the day I picked up my money from my cousin. I realized that she gave me a cashier check and it was made out in my aunt’s name. I was really worried by then. I told her that she should have just made it out to my name or given me cash because I don’t have a bank account right now and if I have it cashed, it would have to go through my aunt who is in a very bad mood because of my cousin (for other personal reasons). Ughh, so I told my uncle about my situation. He told me that he would deposit the check in his and my aunt’s savings account, wait for it to clear, and withdraw the money the following week.
Anyway, the next day, I had a phone call for a job interview. Me and my uncle decided to look for the place in the suburbs before I went there on the day of my interview. We went there the next day. We got lost big time. I live in the city and this job interview was an hour away from us. We left our house around 10am and didn’t get back until 5pm. I wanted us to get home before 1pm so we could stop by the bank to deposit my check.
Anyway, on our way home, we ended up taking a street that sounded familiar. Then we ended up passing by a bank where I used to work. It is where my uncle has his savings account. At first he didn’t want to go because he was too lazy, but I told him that we’re already here and I saw my former co-worker in the parking lot.
We stopped by and I said hello to my former co-worker. When we got there, she was talking to an old neighbor of ours who is a mechanic. Her car battery died and the mechanic was a customer at the bank and he couldn’t do anything about her car because nobody had a jumper cable. Luckily, she asked me and I had one in case of emergency. I told her about my situation and she cashed my check for me. I was so happy about it and thanked God that even though my uncle and I got lost, there was a reason for all of the delays and waiting.
Then, I remember reading in the Aladdin Factor to write down what you really want on paper and make this wish very special. It doesn’t have to follow and rules or law. And imagine you have a magic wand that anything you wish for will come true. One of my friends sent me a text message. He said, “Look, at the end of the day all that matters is that you are happy with your choice. Pick one”. So I wrote that I would like a Mac Book Pro lap top for the money I have, extra 4GB memory, $ to buy the software, $ for prepaid credits, and $ to pay for my student loan within 5 days no questions asked.
That same night after 4 hours, I received a phone call from an old friend whom I have not talked to for 4 years. I just learnt that she is a Mac distributor. She gave me a big discount, tax free, warranty included, brand new plus she has a copy of the softwares that I needed to do freelance. I told her that she was heaven sent – my lucky angel.
The next day, I picked up my Mac Book Pro lap top at her club (she owns a popular restaurant/dance club in downtown Chicago). I paid my student loan, bought extra 4GB memory, and purchased my prepaid phone credits.
See, it works. If I can do it, so can you. Sometimes there is a big reason for delays. God has something better to give you. Just be patient and trust God will take care of you.
Thanks for reading.
