Unexpected Mail

Last winter after a storm hit our hometown, I was left with little to no electricity, I was fighting a custody battle with my son’s father and I was pregnant from him with our second child. I felt emotionally cold (and physically from the weather). I remembered my aunt making a fuss about ‘The Secret’ but I never looked into it. So remembering her words, I sat down at my computer and prayed for a few hours for electricity so I could GOOGLE this secret.
After my few hours of researching, watching the film and writing down my dreams and aspirations, I prayed. I had no money to afford my lawyer during the custody battle and barely enough to get by, so I started imagining unexpected checks in the mail.
A few days later I received an envelope from the clinic in town, which had a letter that said, “Dear Amanda, you have over paid your account and we are dispersing you the remainder amount” and enclosed was an amount for $75.00! I laughed and was amazed at how soon, sudden and wonderful that felt! So I kept asking, trying to imagine where these unexpected checks would come in the mail.
My last asking was around March of this year when I prayed for a large sum of money to be sitting in my mailbox. I had received a letter from my lawyer with a note similar to the clinic’s “as things are done with your case, here is the over payment of your balance, thank you!” And there sat at check for $1,400.00!
It is an amazing feeling to receive such envelopes in the mail and I still ask for unexpected mail to arrive. Yesterday I got a check for $4.00, it’s not much but I know it’s still working! 🙂
