“We Were Born To Do GREAT Things!”
Submitted by: E. William. L
BruneiI came from a broken family. For the past few years, I have been sharing my life with just a few people. A few people who are important to me, who helped transform my life. I have never been happier. And now, I am a company owner/founder.
For as long as I could remember, ever since I was a small boy, I have always lived my life believing in a lot of things. I even had this “ritual” I started when I was about 5, which I practiced until the age of 15 or 16. Being a fan of both Michael Jackson and my grandpa, I would always mutter or just think to myself, “When I grow up, I want to be cool like Michael Jackson, and be just as tall as my grandpa!”
But, of course, I was just a little child then. So, I overestimated on a few things! Being cool wasn’t exactly what I wanted or needed. Dancing is not even my passion. I’m more of an introvert. I like to get things done instead of saying that I’d get things done. And when I’ve reached my full height at the age of 23, my grandpa wasn’t even that tall!
The past few years have been about turning my life around. In those years, I found out who I really am, what kind of person I want myself to become in the future, and what “trademark” I want people to remember me for. I came from a broken family, and all my life I had been self-conscious about where I stood in society. Because of the stigma, I lacked confidence in almost everything that I did, except for my education, which I did quite well with a lot of extra effort. A lot of times, I found myself desperate for exposure to better opportunities.
But, in the midst of all that struggle and search, I have ALWAYS believed in ONE thing. That is, “I was born into this world to do GREAT things.” It has always been my pride and strength. It manifests itself in the things that I do with people all around. It has slowly but effectively helped build my knowledge and understanding towards my life’s goals – what needs to be done and how best to do it. It gave me the confidence that I needed so much.
It doesn’t stop there. I shared it with my close friends, people who have helped make it possible, who were there all those times of soul-searching. I would say to them, “We were all born to do great things. I don’t know how or why yet, but we were. All you got to do is believe me, hold on to these words, and believe in yourselves. Things will happen in the best of ways.”
All along the way, ever since, we have been making achievements in all sorts of areas of our lives. We are more grateful for what we have. This manifests itself through how we all think about our loved ones now, and about ourselves. “Gratitude”, that is the basis of The Secret’s teachings. One of my friends who had never thought he’d find a girlfriend has been going out with a girl for almost 3 years now. Another one who never imagined he’d be important to anyone has been having many coming up to him whenever they needed someone to talk to. All these started to happen when they started learning to be more grateful for whom they are and to believe in themselves regardless of what some people might say. A lot of other things have happened – it wasn’t even clear to us how sometimes, but they just did.
The highlight, in fact, today we co-own a company we have founded together about a year ago. We are involved in the business of human resources and productivity management. And slowly but clearly we are all transforming our lives. Many told us that it was impossible, as we are quite young, but we did it. Although at start-up we’ve encountered many downfalls and challenges, we figured, life is itself filled with problems and challenges no matter what you do. It all depends on how you “perceive” the problems that determines how you will benefit from them or be defeated by them. We never stopped believing, always keeping our spirits high. And just recently, we are given the opportunity to carry out a multiple-contracting business with one of the bigger companies in my country. And, just like the wind, we strongly “feel” great things coming our way. We won’t know how, we don’t even bother figuring out, but we know that they’re right there just waiting for us to reach out for them naturally – all in good time and in the best of ways.
I was introduced to “The Secret” about a month ago. I have the DVD. I stayed up until 3 in the morning to watch it and made sure I understood everything it was trying to say to me. If I may say, it only helped “enhance” my belief, as I felt a stronger connection to and trust for my own genuine feelings and thoughts.
I believe in “The Secret”. I don’t see why anyone should not.
