Money Keeps Pouring In!
Submitted by: Wendy B. K.
New Knoxville, OhioI am a divorced, single mother and full time student on food stamps who has limitless potential and a big imagination.
Summer was over and my alcoholic, abusive husband of 21 years packed up his things and drove away, leaving my teenage son and me on our own. On his way out of town he made sure to stop at the bank to nearly empty our checking account. Two months later I was fired from my job. Fall turned into winter and it looked like it was going to be a bitter one until a friend gave me a copy of The Secret. I watched the movie over and over again and even took notes. That next week I saturated my mind with positive affirmations like “Money comes frequently and easily with a generous God like ours” and “I am happy and grateful for all the abundance that is on the way”. I watched movies of true stories of people overcoming great odds with happy endings.
Not long after that I was on my way home from the Welfare dept. where I had been given a little help with food stamps but was told I did not qualify for cash assistance. “That’s ok” I said to myself with a big smile “All that I need is already on the way”. I celebrated the six dollars that I had in my pocket and the five dollars in my bank account. My son needed a new winter coat so I decided to stop at the Goodwill store. Inside my mind I pretended that I was shopping at the mall. I was trying on coats and having a blast imagining that I was buying all sorts of new, expensive things. I couldn’t be happier as I purchased a raincoat for $1.50. At home I reached my hand into the pocket of that raincoat and pulled out a $100 bill! It had been wrapped up inside an old church bulletin that was dated 1979. That money had been put there 28 years previously just waiting for the day when I needed it the most! THE SECRET WORKS! From then on money just keeps on pouring in. Someone put $100 cash in my mailbox anonymously. Over $3,000 came in the mail from family, money that I did not ask for. A friend that I hadn’t seen in 8 months unexpectedly sent me a $200 bonus for work that I had done nearly a year before!
I had always wanted to get a degree and went for it. Of course grants and scholarships came in totalling more than $5,000! And if that wasn’t enough I was given a much newer car that gets better gas mileage. Today I am in my second year of college and so busy with school that I don’t have time to work, but my bills are always paid on time. I simply have no shadow of a doubt that, just like that raincoat, God has already put all that I need in the pockets of my tomorrows.
