The Perfect Beach Day.
Submitted by: Jenn B.
Pflugerville, TXI’m 34 years old, a school nurse, and I have three wonderful children. I married my high school sweetheart and we’ve been together for over 17 years. I’m a new Christian and recently was baptized in January. I enjoy reading and caring for others.
During spring break of this year, my mother and sister were going to visit us in Texas from Massachusetts. My husband was going camping so my mom and I made a spontaneous decision to rent a beach house for the weekend of spring break. I was filled with so much joy and excitement over it, and was trying to book a place so quickly that I totally forgot to look at the weather.
The next week, I looked at the weather, and the days we were going to be at the beach were overcast with thunderstorms. But I decided to think positively about it and pray every day that we would have the perfect beach day.
The first day we got there, it was drizzly and overcast. My mom kept checking the weather, but I did not because I knew in my heart and soul that the next day was going to be amazing. I was already so excited about it.
The next morning, I was awakened by severe thunderstorms, but instead of getting upset, I just prayed, “Thank you, Lord, for bringing the rain and storms early so the sun can come out for our beautiful beach day.” I just stayed positive, and even though my mom kept grumbling about what the weather looked like on her app, I knew it was going to be great.
We finally got all the kids packed up and made our 15 minute drive to the beach. And it was perfect!! For March, Texas weather just could not get any better. Not a cloud in the sky, a gentle breeze and the sun was shining a warm 80 degrees. It was amazing!
We had the best day! And this was before I had ever read “The Secret.” I knew in my heart that if I stayed positive and continued praying to God, he would provide. I visualized it, and I thanked him constantly for providing it before it even happened. There were no doubts.
Now, I just have to continue putting this into practice for everyday events, for parenting, and for life in general. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
