The Secret Changed My Life!
Submitted by: Donna R
Tampa, FLI am a retired Hospice worker and now working in film. I am following my dreams!
The Secret changed my life and now I want that experience for everyone!
In 2009 a friend introduced me to The Secret. Life for me at that time was unfolding at a rapid pace. I was a single mom, raising teenagers with a very stressful home health care job. I was too busy to take the time to read the book.
In 2013, I was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I was fired from my job for work absences, and then I lost my home. I hit rock bottom. I was exiled at a friends vacant vacation home. I was frightened. I was alone and bed bound. It was a beautiful place to exile. The surroundings were incredibly peaceful.
Finally, I had time to read The Secret series and watch The Secret films. I absorbed everything about the law of attraction and manifestation and applied it to my life. At that point, I had nothing to lose. I decided to give it a go. I studied physics. I learned to keep my vibration at the highest level to achieve my goals.
For almost a year I imagined perfect health. I prayed for wisdom to treat the ailment. I started eating healthier. I researched and took a wide range of healthy supplements. I exercised daily. Each day I would wake up and imagine a healthy and great life. If any negative thoughts crept in, I changed my thought process to a positive outlook immediately. I learned to ignore the negative head chatter and replace it with positive affirmations.
After six months, I started feeling better and regained more strength. I knew I was on the right track. I was completely healed in a year. I continued to watch and read “The Secret” series. I started thanking God and the Universe for everything, big and small. I stayed consistent. I did not give up. Every day I imagined a healthy life, a great job in film, and a nice supportive husband.
Now, ten years later, I realized that everything I imagined during that time has manifested, plus much more!
I stepped out in faith and accepted a job in home health care in another state. Six weeks after moving, I met my now husband. We were married in 2019. He is very supportive of my endeavors and has allowed me to retire to pursue my dreams. I am as equally supportive of him. I followed my heart and started working in film. A dream come true! I began as a background extra on major film projects. I worked my way up in the industry. I also work as a stunt double, locations scout and manager. If it is a fun project with a great cast and crew, I will still work background. I enjoy meeting new people. I met many on set that invited me to work on their projects. I go over and beyond the call of duty for each task they give me, even if it is not exactly what I want to do at the time. I know it is part of the process. If I see something needs to be done, I do it. I was offered a featured role because a director watched me pick up trash and place it in a bin. Unbeknownst to me, he was observing the 100 extras on set that day looking for someone to be a part of the lead actor’s on screen family. Other people were throwing trash on the ground and walking over it. He approached me and thanked me for tidying up the place. He told me what my new role was for that day. He placed me next to a internationally known actor in a major scene in the movie. I worked beside several major actors that day. It was a dream come true.
When I was on a break, a gentleman approached me and struck up a conversation. The next day he returned to ask me a few more questions then he recruited me for a stunt team driving cars in films!
I am always thankful for the work. Sometimes the elements are horrendous. I stay positive now, no matter the situation. I have worked in 29 degrees freezing cold weather outside in the middle of the night to blistering 106 degrees in a 100 year old courthouse. The AC was off because it interfered with the audio sound. I remained positive. I did not complain. I endured the tough elements for the dream.
I was offered a UPM/Unit Production Manager position earlier this year. An Executive Producer was on that set. He observed me for three days. At the end of the shoot he offered me a Producers’ position! He told me that he likes my work ethic. He insists I have input on his latest project. I submit ideas that are readily accepted. I have respect from the executives, something I never got from my former employer. My new coworkers are very easy to get along with. They are a joy to be around. We won several awards this year!
Looking back over the past ten years, I would have never imagined my life would have turned out so well. I have experienced exceedingly over and above what I could have ever imagined. Back then, I thought I had dreamed so big that the realization was unrealistic. No dream is too big! As the dreams were manifesting, the doors kept opening. My positivity bred opportunities, the opportunities opened doors. I have blind faith when walking through those open doors. When I walk through a door of opportunity, I meet people. I surrounded myself with like minded souls. It is amazing who you meet on set. No one wears name tags and sometimes the actors are unrecognizable. So at times, I do not know who I am speaking with. I treat everyone with kindness no matter who they are. I have met some incredible people on set. Some are lifelong friends now. There are times now that I have to turn down projects because I am already committed to other films.
It all started with the book, The Secret. Everyone please read this book series, watch the films and apply it in your life. You will succeed at anything you desire. I am forever grateful. Thank you Rhonda! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
