Warrington, EnglandHaving read The Secret a few months ago, and living The Secret since, I felt inspired today to Google The Secret to find inspiration (I’m currently in the process of buying my new house, I’m just waiting for the money to arrive, which I know will come soon).
So I found this website and clicked straight through to read other people’s stories. The first story I came across was from Teresa in Warrington – I was quite surprised to find someone from my tiny part of my big world/universe. She like me is also moving to a new house. I’d been inspired to start sorting through my stuff today, just like Teresa. Maybe it’s even my old house she wants, who knows! But it has inspired me to share my story so far.
When I read The Secret I suddenly realised I had everything I had ever asked for. I started off as a young girl living in a council house; at that time in my life I just wished for good grades at school. Without trying that hard the grades came. Throughout my education I never got below an A in a major exam, and ended up with a first degree from university.
The next thing I remember asking for was a boyfriend. I wanted to be pretty – at the time I was overweight, and generally boys would laugh at me rather than want to date me. But I got the boyfriend and eventually most of the boys who had laughed at me also wanted to date me. I’d lost weight – without really trying I’d changed schools and suddenly had a two hour walk to do every day.
Then I wanted to move out of the council house. My mum who was divorced at the time met her new husband to be, and he bought us a house.
One thing I never asked the universe for was a good job. I couldn’t picture myself working full time. I’ve never wanted to have to do a 9 to 5 job, but I still wanted to be rich. I don’t work 9-5, but I have all the money I need, and I’ve always been able to buy whatever I want, to the point where when people want to buy me gifts it’s hard to think of something I have forgotten to buy for myself. I never even know how much I have in my bank, as money just always seems to come in, so I don’t have to worry about it.
So when I read The Secret I realised I had most of the things I always thought I would have. Reading the book during the “credit crunch”, one thing I had been worrying about was falling housing prices (having purchased my first home a year ago), but I felt so positive about everything after having read the book.
I live in a new built house, and a few weeks ago the house builders decided to increase their advertising efforts, so put signs up on all the houses they still had to sell, signs which appeared to say they were selling them for £40,000 less than what we had paid. At first I felt sick, but then to my other half’s bewilderment, I perked up and starting singing my “I’m rich” song with a big smile on my face. He left the house to visit his parents, and I had another look at the signs and realised the houses were being sold with shared ownership – they hadn’t really dropped the prices at all.
“Maya is rich, she’s rich, she’s rich, she’s rich!” 🙂 😉
When I was a little girl and I used to pray, asking for the things I wanted, where most people would finish with “Amen” I’d always finish with “thank you”.
So thank you!
