Around 5 years ago I was a strong athlete. I was a boxer. I’d lost weight in the past and needed something to tone up so decided that boxing would be a good place to start! After sparring a couple of times I came to the realization that I loved it and I would compete. Fast forward 2 years and I was a national champion, I had the world in my hands.

In early 2019 I had an injury while sparring. I was knocked out and had a small bleed on my brain. This stopped me from training and boxing. Prior to this accident I was training 6 days a week and ran 3 miles every day before work. I fell into what I can only explain as a depression.

I saw my teammates training for fights, and I went to their fights to support them but deep inside me, I was lost. I had been boxing for 5 years so naturally I was heartbroken. Going from training every day to just trying to recover my body and getting used to gaining a little bit of weight was dreadful.

I fell into a serious depression, as at the job I worked at I was bullied. I felt like I had no confidence to stick up for myself which I hated considering that I had been a boxer for 5 years!

Around a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with PCOS or Polycyclic Ovary Syndrome. At first, I thought it was minor but how very wrong I was.
I had serious bellyaches, headaches, iron deficiencies, bleeding for 9 weeks straight, along with having blood clots and so much more.

I went to my doctor for help, they didn’t want to know. They told me to lose weight and then they would help me. They had already told me I would really struggle to lose weight with PCOS so I was at breaking point. I began to feel so depressed I was worried about what I might do.

This was when I discovered The Secret.

My coach sent me the documentary and I watched it thinking he was a little mad. I never thought about it again for many months.

I was then on the bus on the way home from the job I hated, and I found a podcast that was also about The Secret, and I listened all the way home. I was confused. I didn’t understand how it worked but I made it my mission to find out.

I found this great website where you can purchase second-hand books. They’re still in amazing condition. I purchased The Secret Daily Teachings and The Greatest Secret. I know these are not the order the books came out but I thought there wouldn’t be any harm in reading them.

I spent days reading them and I also downloaded The Secret Super App where I would write down my gratitude every day. I started to think positively and then one day the unimaginable happened.

I was offered a new job! It was support work, this is something I had always wanted to do. I wanted to progress to being a social worker and this would be the best experience anyone could wish for!

I was very optimistic about this new opportunity. I started there and I loved it! Everyone was so kind and caring, working 15 hours on your feet helps with keeping active too!

I kept believing good things would happen and kept reading my way through The Secret books. I kept telling myself ‘I don’t have PCOS’, ‘I am healthy’, ‘I am not bleeding’, and ‘I am happy’.

Around 2 weeks after telling myself these affirmations every day I stopped bleeding. I stopped bloating. I stopped having bellyaches. I stopped having headaches. Every single symptom just disappeared. The Universe had answered my prayers, I was so thankful I even cried! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I could not believe that this had happened to me. I had been to the doctor around 20 times in 3 months because it was getting so bad and then all of a sudden it just vanished.

I then started to notice I was losing weight, something I had not been able to do for a long time despite being on a diet and doing everything the doctor said. I lost half a stone in around 4 weeks. This was incredible! I was so, so proud of myself.

I never believed that the Universe could be so powerful and that my own mind could help me to hopefully heal a chronic illness. I am so thankful.

The Secret has not only changed my life, it has also saved my life.
