Thank you, thank you, thank you for this awesome forum that has encouraged me so much. Thank you, Rhonda!!!
Yesterday, I looked outside my bedroom window and watched a sheriff drive up across the street. I then noticed 2 sheriffs escorting movers as they were setting out the possessions of my son’s friend. My son was in California at the airport and heading back to Georgia. I texted him and let him know what was happening. He said, “That’s terrible.” He texted his friend and said, “If you need to store some things at our place, you can.” She responded in utter shock! She had no idea! She had only been living there for 3 months. She had sublet from someone who was being evicted, and she was not aware.
My son gave her my number and she called me immediately in desperation. I went over and spoke to the sheriffs and saw all of her beautiful, designer things sitting on the ground. My son’s friend did not make it back before the sheriffs left, but he told her that when they drive away, people usually swarm and take what they want. So I waited by her things until she arrived. She was so grateful! She said she was calling friends and they were coming with a truck.
I had to leave by this time to pick my son up from the airport. We drive back, and she’s still out there with her stuff. My son found a friend right around the corner with a truck. This was a miracle in itself, he said he had just brought the truck back today. And, this guy goes around the block and secures a storage unit. I mean, things were just coming together like clockwork.
After we began loading the truck, the guy’s wife and daughter who owns the truck, came out and began helping too. So, rather than her becoming a spectacle, she received help. She kept asking, “Where did you people come from? Who cares this much about a stranger?” She could not find any of her friends who were available. She tried to offer me money and gifts. I refused and told her that this miracle experience was enough for me. My son came back home last night after helping get her things in storage. We high-fived each other and gave one another a big old hug. That was really awesome!
