Invincible Mind!
Submitted by: Aparajita Banerjee Sahoo
India, at present living in USAI am a 42 year old woman from India and I live in the USA with my family. My heart is simple but my mind has infinite thoughts and possibilities. I am an ESL teacher and I love writing. I also love traveling, exploring new places, creating memories through experiences, and meeting people from all around the world.
Aparajita is my name which means invincible in my native language which is Bengali. I am blessed to be born into a loving family with good food on my plate, good clothes to wear, and good education to be proud of. We were not rich but the Universe had given us enough to be content. However, health had been a major issue in my family, especially for my dad.
Life was not always a bed of roses and I have had my share of difficulties, pain, and trauma. But that is for another day. Here I will share my story of believing in The Secret.
Ever since my childhood or maybe teenage years, I had a deep desire to travel abroad, especially to Europe, and America. I wanted to see those lands and also wanted to visit Disneyland. Though I had a good education, it was still not easy to go to such places.
I married my high school classmate and he was aware of my deep desire and dream. In the year 2008 when my daughter was born, my husband attended a training at his workplace. He came home and told me that they were shown The Secret movie as a part of their training. And he insisted that I must watch it as well.
I watched it and I believed each word in it, as I could relate to everything in it. It seemed I already was in sync with the idea because ever since my tender years, I believed somehow that my dreams would come true.
I had my passport ready but it was already 5 years old. I thought maybe it would expire by the end of 10 years and I would have no reason to renew it anymore as I saw no chance for us to travel abroad.
My mother was also aware of my dreams and along with my husband, she had also always kept on encouraging me to believe in my dreams.
I started following The Secret with a deep conviction and in 2011 when it was 6 years since I had gotten my passport, the law of attraction and the Universe made magic happen.
I came across an online contest on Facebook in which I had to upload some photos of me with my kid, and also write something along with them. I did that and that was it. I let it go.
A few days later in early February of 2011, a phone call came. I was informed that I had won a free 3 day trip to Hongkong Disneyland! I was not even aware that Disneyland existed outside the USA as well. It was an all paid trip with my family and there were 9 winners in total. So 9 families had an unforgettable fairytale trip to Hongkong!
And that was just the beginning. In the same year, my husband was offered a job assignment in Japan for a year! We were thrilled and we had an amazing year and a half in Japan. We again visited Disneyland and this time it was Tokyo!
We returned to India in 2013 and I missed Japan so much. However, I kept believing this was not the end and that there will be more. Eventually, my husband got a job offer in the USA and we moved here in 2017. In 2018 in June, we visited Disneyland in Florida!
If this isn’t magic then what is?
However, though we love to travel and we have been blessed to see many places wherever we lived, life can still get complicated at times due to our own lack of understanding. I had been going through a very rough patch in my life and things seemed very difficult. We had stopped going anywhere and though we planned to visit Disneyland and other places in California, the trip got canceled due to Covid in 2020. We dreamed of visiting all the Disneylands but things seemed difficult for certain reasons. But I believed and always will believe in The Secret and I still make my dreams come true like always!
I learned it means a lot to feel gratitude and give thanks for what I had and have, rather than complain and feel sad for what do not have. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
