I had dabbled with The Secret for a long time. I am super grateful for finding out about it and it has brought me comfort in tough times. I am a 32 year old woman and I had re-located to London almost ten years ago. It has been a rollercoaster finding some stability in the city I love but now everything has really been coming along for me.

Living in London as a single woman can be amazing, but also pretty daunting when it comes to finding some stability in terms of a home and finding a partner.

The coronavirus pandemic lockdown and being on furlough gave me the gift of time. There was a lot of time to think about what I wanted. I started looking into various buying options to get out of the renting cycle.

I had next to no deposit saved, so thought I was nowhere near being able to buy. I found a property I liked in the summer and emailed to find out more, but the numbers just did not work for me.

In the meantime with all my new found spare time, I had written a list of the type of properties I wanted including the location and that it had parking, which is hard to come by in London. I wrote that I wanted the property by 2022, however, I decided to change the date to 2021.

I had put the whole buying thing out of my mind by Xmas, as another lockdown loomed again. I got a call from the estate agent to say they had 2, ground floor apartments left in the development and that they were selling them for a much lower price point than before but I had to meet their deadline with half the deposit.

One of my requests was that I did not want a ground floor flat. I went to view them anyway and it just so happened that one of the first floor flats fell through, just as I was viewing it. So of course, I put an offer in on it and it was mine!

Everything worked out perfectly. Even my moving dates from my rental contract aligned so that I did not have to pay both my rent and my mortgage. I should add this move was a totally new area for me but it all came together so easily that I knew it was meant to be. So I just went for it. It had everything on my list except a balcony but I was happy to compromise on that for now. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

To buy my first home in the middle of a pandemic by myself in London was so unexpected! I had always struggled with using The Secret to meet a partner, but now I know that I will be back to write my success story very soon.
