I wasn’t always an A+ student at school but I had always had a dream of getting into university. During my school years, I had to repeat a grade and I was okay with it because I believed in second chances. I believed that it was a chance and an opportunity for me to get better marks and get into the university of my dreams.

I got to senior year and it was the hardest year with a pandemic going on but I had to stay strong and remind myself why I was doing this, why I was studying so hard. I would remind myself about a quote that says, “You will reap what you sow”, so I studied.

The year ended and then came a new year. I was not so nervous about my results. One of the teachers once said to me that I never seemed to be nervous. I kind of knew how I was going to graduate senior year because I was not always an A+ student but I was real and honest with myself.

The day came when I got my final results and they turned out just as I expected them to but I cried anyway. I asked God, why? I was rejected at the university of my dreams.

I had to quickly make a plan so I applied everywhere else. I got into a private university. They gave me a chance to improve my marks with them so I would be able to either continue my studies with them or go to the university of my dreams. I honestly don’t know how I got into that school, it was a miracle. I sometimes smile, look up and say, “I know that it was you, God.” I am so grateful and I am glad that I never, ever gave up on myself. I fell down twice and I stood up and continued with my race. Sometimes you need to fall to win, so do not give up!
