I Did Not Give Up!

My cat is a 4 year old, male, neutered tuxedo. Exactly one year ago this month, he disappeared. He is very much an outdoors cat and likes to seek all kinds of prey, so at first, I didn’t think it unusual. Then I thought that perhaps he had gotten into a fight with another animal. After having had 3 other cats, I knew that they would often ‘lay low’ and out of sight after that. But when he didn’t return the next day I felt that something was wrong.
The first 2 weeks were excruciating for me since I love him dearly. Then I came to a point where bitterness with God started to set in because I had already lost almost all of my loved ones. My beloved mom and my fiance had died suddenly 2 years before. Then I told myself, no! I am not going there. I had always practiced the Christian faith and now was the time to put it to the test.
I remembered a Bible story about ‘praising in the dark’. The characters were in prison, had been beaten raw, and were in shackles, and with no hope of being released. Then one night they just decided to throw up their arms and praise God anyway. At that moment, angels flew into the prison, their shackles fell off and they were set free. Well, I decided to do the same.
With no visible evidence of hope, I threw up my arms daily for 5 days, spontaneously praising God. I also started singing while I did it.
On the 5th day was walking home from somewhere while singing all the way. When I got back to my house and walked inside, unbelievably, my cat was in the house!
The poor thing was very thin and dirty but after feeding and hydrating him, he was 100% back to his old self in a week! Thank God. Thank The Secret.
