I Made My Tumor Harmless.
Submitted by: RM
New ZealandOne year into my secret journey. Positivity is now my life and it feels good.
My story is about focusing on positive outcomes for your health. You see I was feeling my testicles for lumps one day. Over a two day period, I convinced myself I could feel a lump. I went to see my doctor and he could find nothing, but to be safe, he sent me for an ultrasound.
There they told me that they did not find a lump, however, they did find an internal growth in my right testicle. I had to follow up with a specialist who told me that this was a tumor and the chances were 50/50 of it being cancerous. He booked me for surgery 3 weeks later to remove the growth. Testing would then be done on the tumor to see if I needed my testicle removed if it was cancer.
I had a choice here. I could worry. I could think again and again about what would happen if it was cancer and how it would affect me. The ‘pre-secret’ me would have done this. Instead, I was the least worried of my friends and family. I chose to think that this was a one-off operation, as the tumor will be benign. For three weeks I kept this up. My mind failed me once or twice, but I kept myself positive 95% of the time.
My surgery was actually a pleasant experience and everyone was so nice. They even put me in my favorite number bed booth, too.
One week later and recovering swiftly, the specialist had great news, it was benign! The tumor was harmless. They will monitor me every 6 months but I am fit and healthy. So to you reading this, I know sometimes it is tough. But fight your mind for positive outcomes for whatever health issue is in your life. What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger.
Please also take this time to check your testicles for lumps boys. Ladies, make sure the men in your life do it too. Thank you, thank you, thank you, everyone.
