The Rose under the windshield wiper
Submitted by: Cindy C.
Tacoma, WashingtonI am a Mother of a beautiful daughter (23) and a wonderful 1 1/2 year old grandson. They are God's awesome blessings to me. I adopted my daughter when she was 2 days old but knew that she was going to be mine about 6 weeks ahead of time. This is another great story for another time... :) I have been a professional cake decorator for 35 years.
I know that this was quite a few years ago (about 20 years actually), but I know now as I look back at it that it had to be the law of attraction in action.
I was at work doing my everyday routine of getting the cake orders done and the cases filled with cakes and pastries, but I had one major thought in my mind all day – my husband was taking me for granted. So I thought that he needed a wake up call. I decided that I would buy a rose, take it home, and thank him for being so sweet and putting the rose under my windshield wiper to find after I got off work. I didn’t tell anyone about what I was going to do. I just thought that they would think it was silly. I thought about that rose all day long and how he would react and what he would say. Would the thought of, maybe she has a secret admirer, spark some interest in our relationship? All day I couldn’t get my mind off of the rose.
After work I went to the flower shop in the store I worked at and bought the rose. I carried it out to my car, but the closer I got to my car I thought I was seeing things. There under my windshield wiper WAS a rose. In shock and utter amazement I took that rose and the rose that I bought home, and put them both in a vase. When my husband woke up from his nap (after graveyard shift) I thanked him for the roses that he got me. He walked over to the vase, looked at the roses and just sorta said, “You’re welcome.” Now I know he didn’t buy the one rose, and to this day I don’t know who bought the other rose. It was totally out of his character to do this type of thing, but if he did, why that day out of 365 days that year and over 10 years of marriage? It had to be the Law of attraction.
I’ve since asked him about it, and he doesn’t even remember it.
