This story happened just 2 days ago.

I was at work the other day when heavy rain started to pour down and there were a lot of thunder and lightning crashes. Not so long after, huge thunder and lightning hit the area causing a sudden power shutdown.

So there we were, with no electricity for 5 minutes before it finally came back on. The lights came back on, the machines came back on, and my colleagues’ computers came back on. But not my computer.

It was on, but I couldn’t start the system. Since I wasn’t really a computer expert I thought it was just a minor problem and didn’t really have too much to think about it until the IT staff came. They checked my computer out, and said, “I think it hit your hard disk.”

Do you know that mini heart attack you get when you think that you lost your phone? It hit me right there and then! I had only one thing on my mind at that time: I don’t want to start all over with what I had been working so hard on!

I started to worry about my data, my on-going work files, and pretty much everything the hard disk had inside which I had not backed up yet! So when the IT staff left and took my computer with them to be fixed, I was busy with my thoughts trying to remember all the files, thinking which file I should remake first, that I kind of started to freak out.

But then, as most of you readers might have guessed, I remembered that I have the ultimate power to help me get through this. Why should I worry? So I did the first aid needed in this kind of situation: I calmed myself down.

Then good thoughts just slipped easily into my head. It was so unbelievably easy for me to think that my files were going to be alright, they would all still be there, and I felt relieved that I could just continue what I had been doing with all the data stored in that hard disk.

It took time for the IT staff to fix it, so I was still without my computer all day yesterday. But this morning, I walked into my office to find out that my computer had already been put back in its place. I turned it on and all the files were still there! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now I know that the only thing I can’t do is to thank everything and everyone enough. That is because there is always more and more to come!
