I hadn’t realized it but I had subconsciously practiced The Secret throughout my childhood. I was largely raised by myself and had to develop my own self-esteem. However, I still made poor relationship choices in adulthood. I felt trapped in a very unhappy relationship for years. After several attempts to end the relationship, I made a firm decision last June that this was it. In fact, it had to be it in order to preserve my emotional and mental health. There was no going back. It was difficult, however, as we were both living under the same roof as our little girl.

Up to this point, I had focused largely on everything that I didn’t want in a relationship. Strangely, almost overnight there was a shift in my thinking and I made a conscious decision to focus on what I did want, both in a relationship and in life in general.

Around this time I was in a local charity shop when something caught my eye. I looked at the bookshelf and there sitting on a display was The Secret. I was intrigued by the title and so picked it up and began flicking through it. I turned to a page and the words resonated deeply with me as it spoke about the importance of focusing on what you do want, not what you don’t want!

I paid for the book and over the next few months, it spurred me on to keep my focus and intention on ending the relationship. During this time I practiced a lot of self-care and positive affirmations too. Eventually, my partner accepted that the relationship was over and moved out of the family home.

Since that time, my connection with the Universe has become much stronger. The most amazing things have been happening in my life, like the quick, unexpected sale of my flat, a beautiful new home, a new job that I love, and receiving unexpected money. My mental and emotional health have recovered too, as I now feel in ‘the flow’ of my life. One thing I thought would be impossible but I really wanted, was a good relationship with my ex-partner for my daughter’s sake. Against all the odds, this has also come true!

I continue to learn more every day about myself and the Universe. Listening to my inner voice and trusting in myself and the Universe have been keys to arriving at where I am now. That, and practicing gratitude, positive affirmations, visualization, and the art of ‘letting go’. I am so grateful to the person who donated The Secret to my local charity shop. They have no idea of the impact it has had on my life.

Trust that you are on the right path, that the Universe is supporting you, loves you, and wants to make all your dreams come true!!!
