About six months ago, my life had spiraled out of control. I had quit my job because of an unbearable working environment, and my relationship was at an all-time low. Here I was, 36 years old, without a career or personal life to speak of. I was back to square one. I had worked hard all of my life. I had two Master’s degrees, one from an Ivy League school. I had been working in prestigious positions at international organizations all of my life. But somehow, within a short amount of time, I had lost my job, my relationship and had no social life or friends in the new city that I lived in. All that I wanted was to find a great, new job in my dream city, and then find the man of my dreams to share my life with and finally start a family.

I knew exactly where I wanted to work and started pursuing my goal intensely. I called in all of my connections and favors and applied to numerous positions. After months and months I still had no results, I was being rejected from everywhere. I did not understand why I could not get a job in my dream organization and dream city after everything that I had sacrificed and all of the hard work I had put in in my life. I refused to move away from my dream city because I knew I deserved the life of my dreams here.

Money was getting short and my visa was expiring but I held onto my dreams and knew they were on their way to me. People around me were telling me that I was being silly, spending all of my savings on staying somewhere without a job. They made fun of my “wishful thinking” and belief that what I wanted was on its way to me. I had many, many days with intense lows and had interchanging episodes of anxiety and depression. I could not sleep and could not function during the day without huge amounts of coffee. But I refused to let go of my dreams and give up, because I knew they were on their way to me.

Daily, I practiced gratitude and made my gratitude lists. I tried to meditate daily for 20 minutes with the mantra “I am abundant, whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy.” Daily, I would listen to The Secret or The Power audio books, which I almost knew by heart, because Rhonda’s voice made me feel better instantly. Daily, I visualized what my dream life would look like. I woke up in the morning next to my perfect fiancé, in the exact apartment I had chosen for myself overlooking the marina, where I made coffee for us on our Nespresso machine. I drove to work at my dream job in my dream car, wearing my dream engagement ring. I imagined myself happy and excited every single day, getting appreciative emails from my manager, working in an amazing team, sitting in my office with floor-to-ceiling windows, even having lunch with my colleagues at the cafeteria. In the evenings, I would happily leave the office, go to my private Pilates class, and then meet my perfect fiancé for dinner close to our apartment at the beach. I created an offer letter for my new job, business cards and inserted my new position on my LinkedIn account. I took a photo of it and then removed it, of course, as I did not want to seem like a scam!

I am writing today to tell to the world that I am living the exact life I had imagined in my mind so many times. I live in the exact apartment building, have the exact job I wanted, and I have met my perfect partner. To all that are reading this, I want you to know that it is normal to lose hope sometimes, to feel like there is no way out, to give in to outside voices that discourage you from living your dream. But you have to snap back and remember that it is the life that you deserve! If you can imagine it, it is already yours! Never give up hope, no matter how long you feel it is taking, and know that it is on its way to you! There is not a single doubt in my mind that you can also achieve what you are wishing for. Just keep holding on through the tough times, and continue visualizing and imagining that you already have everything that you want in your life! Always be grateful for everything around you.

I want to thank the Universe, Rhonda Byrne, and the entire team of The Secret for profoundly changing my life forever, and taking me out from the mental slavery that was living in ignorance of the law of attraction. You have taught me that we are all creators of our lives, and you have taught me to take responsibility and live my dreams!
