I Saw London!
Submitted by: Mike S.
Cranford, NJI'm just an ordinary high school student who loves England.
In about March, I finally decided not to go to the usual sleep-away camp that I went to over all my previous summers. This gave me an additional seven weeks to enjoy myself over the summer, and it saved my parents a good deal of money. During that school year, I had also developed an unprecedented love for England, and dreamed of traveling there over the summer.
My mum works for Citibank and takes business trips regularly, and there was a small chance she may travel to London over that summer. Unfortunately, that chance was very slim, and the chances of me coming along were even slimmer.
So I decided to use the law of attraction to make this trip happen! I made my computer’s desktop background a picture of Parliament, I listened primarily to music from the United Kingdom, and I kept these images in my head of me visiting the major attractions in London (i.e. Big Ben, The London Eye, Buckingham Palace). I would use Google Earth to virtually “visit” London regularly.
After two months or so, there was no progress. The London trip was still a distant speck of possibility in a sea of doubt. But something happened some time in April that was truly extraordinary.
I had gone to an Chinese restaurant with my friend, Marlee. As we finished our dinner, our fortune cookies were brought to the table. I cracked mine open and read my fortune: “You will travel far for both business and pleasure.” My eyes lit up and my jaw dropped. I explained to Marlee that this fortune cookie must have been a sign that I was going to London! When I got home, I showed everyone in my family the fortune. They were dubious and assumed this was some sort of freak coincidence, but I refused to believe that. I put the fortune on my wall and read it several times a day.
One week later, at dinner, my mum told me she had a special surprise for me in her suitcase. She opened her suitcase and showed me a pair of business class tickets to arrive on July 22nd at Heathrow Airport in London. What I felt upon seeing these was a truly unique emotion; I did not feel surprised. It is the sort of feeling I get when I receive an excellent report card: ecstatic, but not surprised (because teachers always provide our grades ahead of time). It was as if my mind could not accept that I conjured up out of nothing a pair of thousand-dollar tickets to London. But indeed I did!
July 22nd, 2007 I was sitting in a business class seat on British Airways headed for Heathrow Airport in London. A seat I never believed I would have the opportunity to sit on! I went on holiday in London this summer all thanks to the law of attraction! Thank you SO MUCH for this trip to London! I had a GREAT time!
