One day while I was sitting at home browsing through my computer on my university’s website, I noticed a link to an application to become a research assistant for one of the psychology research labs on campus. Given the fact that I go to such a big school with an overwhelming number of psychology majors, research assistant positions are extremely limited. I immediately filled out an application after becoming so intrigued by the description of the tasks I would be involved in by becoming a research assistant. However, the application asked if I had any prior experience in a lab, which I did not. I initially thought that I had a very slight chance of getting the job given the fact that I had no real qualifications other than being a psychology major. However, I did not let that deter me from putting all my positive thoughts and feelings into manifesting what I truly wanted.
The next day, I took out my notebook and started to write about how thankful I was to be working in the research lab. As The Secret states so many times, it is so important to “act as if” and feel the feelings you will feel when your desire manifests. I wrote about what a wonderful opportunity it was that I was given and how happy I am to be doing something that was helping me get closer to my goals of becoming a clinical psychologist. After that, I started to write down on little scraps of paper whenever I got the chance, ‘Danielle: Research Assistant’. I loved the way it looked and how good I felt whenever I wrote it. I poured all my positive feelings into believing I would get the position despite the fact that I had little experience. I did not question it, I knew it would happen!
Sure enough, the following day I receive an e-mail from the director of the lab putting me in touch with the graduate students in his lab who were going to interview me. Long story short, I went into the interview feeling extremely calm and confident even though normally I am anxious during interviews. And, it all went wonderfully! They offered me the position on the spot!
I am so thankful for The Secret because of how much it has taught me about being able to manifest anything I want by simply attaching good feelings to my desire and acting as if I already have what I am asking for! I am forever grateful for The Secret’s positive influence it has had on my life! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
