My Secret Story, Living The Dream.
Submitted by: Pallavi
India, now in SingaporeA mother of two gorgeous kids, happily married, living a life I dreamed of as a teen. A true believer in the power of love and gratitude. A true follower of Ask-Believe-Receive.
As a teenager, I used to spend countless hours imagining my dream life. My career, the love of my life, my house and every small detail of how I wanted my future to be. These visualisation and dreams were my companions during the long hours spent in front of the books I didn’t care much about. I dreamed of having a career, an independent life, friends, love, money and all glorious things this world has to offer.
In my early twenties, I had forgotten all about these dreams and got stuck in everyday life. I had started considering it all fantasies of a teenager and felt it didn’t have any relevance or value in the real world. Only much later I realised that I did end up living all the dreams I had, the good, the bad and the ugly. By the time I was 27 a lot had happened in my life that I was unhappy with, breakups, career and financial instability, loss of family members, disagreements with parents, and somehow things seemed to be going downhill. I was wallowing in my misery and couldn’t seem to see a way out. But the Universe had my back.
One day at a book shop I came across a book called “The Secret”. It looked fancy with the hard cover and description. I looked at it and soon dismissed it. But the book didn’t dismiss me. Everywhere I went after that day it was there, on a poster, in a discussion, on TV, people talking about it. On further research, I found out that it was a bestseller and was about the Law of Attraction. Again, my practical brain dismissed it as mumbo-jumbo. Then one day while stuck at a traffic light, a boy selling paperback books at the traffic light came to my window, literally pushing a book in. And guess what book it was? The Secret. I kept dismissing him, he kept persevering, and the traffic light refused to budge. So, I decided to haggle and quote a price which I was sure he wouldn’t accept. I offered him Rs. 100 and said I’ll take the book. He had quoted Rs. 500, and I was certain that he would refuse. But to my surprise, he grabbed the 100, threw the book in the car and ran away as the light turned green. So, there I was forced by the Universe to read The Secret and to change my life forever.
I was immediately hooked and started following the suggestions shared in the book. And with that as if by magic, things started changing. My relationships at work began to get better, the people who troubled me either left me alone or moved to other departments. My relationship with my family started getting better. I began getting over my dead-end relationship with my then boyfriend, and began doing things that I truly loved. I began making new friends after a very long time, friends that filled my life with love and laughter. I was once again loving myself, feeling beautiful again, feeling happy from within. I was grateful for everything life was giving me and once again, opened my heart to love and spread it around.
Everything in my life rocketed from sloppy to superb in all aspects of my life. And then the most beautiful thing of them all happened, I met my Mr. Right. Again the Universe got to work and things happened to make sure we met. When I think back, I feel it was love at first sight. There was something about him that I couldn’t resist. We became good friends at first, dated and then soon got engaged to be married. On our honeymoon, we stopped over at Singapore for a couple of days and there I found the place I wanted to call home. Within a year of being there the Universe got us back here for good. My husband got an amazing job offer and I got one immediately, too. We’ve been here since, have two of the most gorgeous babies and a perfect life.
It was just in the last few days while clearing off my desk at home that I came across some of the diaries I wrote as a teen. That’s when I looked around to realise that I am living the life I had always dreamt of. My husband, my kids, my home, everything is just as I had dreamt of. The Universe did work its magic to give me everything I asked for. Reading all those old letters and diaries filled me with immense gratitude. And now I vow to not only ensure I pass on the love I receive but never to doubt the powers of the Universe.
Thank you Rhonda for creating this book, it was a very needed reminder of the powers of love and gratitude.
Bless You.
