I’m 26 years old. A single mom of 2 beautiful little girls who works full time while still trying to get an education to give them the best future I can. My 6 year old wants to be a Dentist and my 3 year old wants to be a Mommy. I was introduced to the movie “The Secret” about 10 years ago and I’ve dipped in and out of it a few times per year. Regardless, the teachings have stuck with me since then. I bought the audiobook a year or so ago to listen in the car on my way to work.

Two days per week I attend classes at the community college. I’m going into Engineering Drafting and Design and just starting a second major in Architectural Drafting. My goal for the past 2 years of pushing myself to the limit was to get into a position where I can support my home without relying on someone else to be there with me.

The stress levels have been high and this year I was diagnosed with Stage 2 pre-cervical cancer and low vitamin D levels. My Doctor said it’s likely due to high stress loads and my depression was due to low vitamin D from the winter months of no sunshine. Weird, I didn’t really think I was stressed until this. Suddenly all the excuses I’d made for being tired and lethargic all the time made sense. Pushing myself to get to a better place was actually causing my immune system to shut down. After all, I ignored it’s signs showing me to slow down. I decided to look for a less stressful job. After looking for months for something in my field, I had hit a moment of acceptance of not being qualified enough for anything in my industry.

Determined not to be stopped by anything, I made a total life change. I eat better, exercise, and still have time for homework and fun time with my kids. With encouragement from friends I picked myself back up and kept looking. There was a job posted on an online job board – indeed.com.  While reading the descriptions, I was almost qualified to work with this one structural engineering company. The posting encouraged applicants to look at their web-site and make sure they felt they’d be a good fit with the culture before applying. When the homepage loaded, I felt it! The image of i beam rafters and a lion married into one place, I knew this was it. I didn’t even have to look at the rest of what the company was about. The feeling I got when seeing the image lit me up with so much excitement inside that I knew this was where I wanted to be. I applied for it and had my interview.

A week later I was offered the position! I’ll be working in my industry, making enough to support my family and able to cut back on school hours to reduce stress, all which will aide in my healing.

I have been filled with so much happiness and gratitude for everything coming into alignment with my wants and needs. The day after I was offered the position I received a phone call from my new boss. He wanted to discuss my schooling and make sure we were on the same page. During this phone call he explained to me that it’s my versatile background of work experience and my personality that made me their choice for the position. The skills needed to do my job are teachable and the first few weeks will be in depth training of the program. What aided in their decision to hire me over the other 10 candidates was that they see my potential to fill the growth need within the company. During this discussion I held an image in my head of me being employed with them for many years to come and being one of the Chief Officers of the company! I am making that my next goal.

I’m so grateful for all of the things I have in my life. I know that I’m worth it! Not because anybody told me so, but because I finally feel it. The Secret opened my life to accepting what I truly want! I have had things that I’m interested in and had reservations about going into, like my love life is less of a priority than my work and kids. I know that when I’m ready and I really know what I want, it will come to me! Even if it’s not Bob Morley specifically, I know that he will be exactly what I’ve been wanting all along.
