Job of my Dreams

Melbourne, AustraliaA young professional who is always seeking something more
I am originally from Sydney, and decided to leave home and move to Melbourne. I realised that everyone and everything in Sydney just wasn’t up to the standards that I want in my life. To be blunt, I didn’t want to end up in a rut like all the other people around me seemed to be. I didn’t know a soul in Melbourne, but just decided that come what may, I was going to make this work because I wanted something more from life.
I got a transfer with work, but after a while I was really over my job and bosses of 8 years and decided to leave, even though I had nothing else to go to. I was going to pay the bills doing massaging which I am qualified for. The money didn’t come in as I had hoped and advertising my business didn’t bring about a single phone call. My faith that everything would work out was tested time and time again, and I would have very challenging down times where I thought nothing good was ever going to happen, bordering on depression. Then one night, it came to me in a flash. I had to buy the employment pages the very next day. It was literally the first thing I did the next morning. And there it was – my dream job which exactly matched my experience and with a company I have dreamed of working with. I put in an application and every single night I would light a candle and repeat my written mantra “Everything will come to me. I will get the job and be very successful. I am destined for this job.” I said it 100’s of times a night for more than a month and would even stare at a picture of the company logo so I could visualise my connection to the future I wanted.
Then I got a phone call to say I didn’t get the job. I didn’t even get an interview! So strong was my conviction that I was going to get this role, I rang the employment agency back and asked why I did not qualify and would she mind giving me feedback. She said she would call me back, and when she did, she wanted to discuss my salary expectations! I had two interviews over the next two days and started with the company before the week was even finished.
