Becoming a doctor was not an instant decision for me. In fact, it occurred to me only in the very last minute of my 12th grade. The final year of school and the bridge between what I was all along and who I was going to become in the future. Growing up in India had taught me the importance of the so called ‘marks’ but it had very little impact on me considering the fact of how careless and playful I was. And with the added benefit of being in the forward caste, I had a needle-tip area chance of getting into a medical school out of pure merit, literally! With the cut-off system at hand, various castes’ fates were decided by the mark they scored in the 12th board exam. And for the forward caste, the cut-off was decided at 200 point.

Results day came and my cut off totalled to 191.5 which left me at doubt of getting into any college, not just medical college. It was 2 solid months of torture for me. I wanted to get into a medical college so badly! There was not a single night that passed without me crying in those 2 months. That was when I came across The Secret. I knew it instantly that the Universe was trying to show me that there was another way to my dream. I gave my all to The Secret, I just surrendering to it. It was, after all, my very last hope.

A week or so passed. Just when I was beginning to lose my faith, a letter came. It was a call letter from a medical college. A very well known medical college. I had gotten into it! And to this day I pay the fee allotted for merit students. Students who had scored a much higher mark than me in the 12th finals and had entered through the management quota as they could not qualify for other colleges. I still have no idea how that had happened. It just happened.

For all of you reading this, there is something called a miracle! And it is not a fancy thing we tell children about to amuse them. It is something that exists! And a miracle does not work by ‘coincidence’. It works on belief. Your belief. Who says you can not predict the future. You can. You can dream it. you can believe it and the Universe materializes your dream. Believe in your self and the Universe and be as grateful as ever.
