My stories kinda long so I will try to shorten it. Lets just say that after a couple of years in school, life happened and I wasn’t able to go anymore. This was at the time where I was only 16. I was too young to get myself back in school, and my parents were in a bad mental state so they couldn’t get me back in either. I had no idea on how to get in touch with my other family either since my family was in another state somewhere and was never really close to us. I had no idea what to do.

For the next few years, all I really did was waste time, I played on the computer, I watched stuff on TV, just pointless stuff to take my mind off my boring and bad situation. I wanted to get a job, but I could never get one due to my lack of education and I couldn’t think of a way of getting myself in school without my parent’s help and they were still in a bad mental state.

One day, I went to a thrift store to look for a cheap book to buy and read. That’s where I found The Secret. Now to be honest, I just looked at it, reading the back and cover of the book and thought “Wow this has to be a joke, it sounds so fake and too good to be true” but I was bored so I bought it anyway for laughs and put it under my bed, telling myself I would read it later when there was nothing else to do. A few months later that time came, with nothing else to do, I was cleaning out the junk under my bed and I found the book again.

Once again, I didn’t believe the promises the book was saying. Reading the first few pages of it once again made me think that it was fake. But I kept reading, and surprisingly, it actually started making a little sense. I started imagining me getting up early in the morning to get ready to go to school, then I started doing it! I’d set my alarm to a certain early time and would wake up and get ready for the day even though I wasn’t really going to school. I would imagine and feel like I was going to school every time I would go to bed, and I would imagine having to go to school every time I would get up. I think I did this for about 2 or 3 weeks.

One day, while walking to the store for my parent, I met one of their old friends who remembered me when I was little! When they asked me how I was doing, I thought about lying and saying I was fine, but I told them about my situation and they said that they would try to help! A few days later, they found a place that helps people like me get back in school. I didn’t even know this place existed, but it did.

This story is getting longer then I thought it would, but anyway to make this short, I got enrolled in a GED school, and in 8 months of studying and working at it, getting up in the morning every day just like I imagined it, I got my GED! And, a few months after that, I got my first job working as a tray server at a hospital!

I was really happy, my life was getting back to together. But I wanted to try another thing to see if The Secret was really working and not a fluke. My old laptop broke down one day and I couldn’t get it fixed, so I just imagined myself using a laptop again, I wasn’t really thinking about a new one, I was just imagining and feeling how good it was that I had a working laptop again and how thankful I was for having one. I put my old broken one away and I made space for the new laptop I knew was coming, feeling thankful for it when I saw the space for it.

Now my life is getting a lot better, and you know all the stuff The Secret was talking about? About how you just need to believe and have faith and everything? People have been saying this for years! I’m now seeing it books, TV shows, movies, quotes from other people, everywhere. I thought that was just some thing that people said to get your hopes up or to make you feel better, but it is really true!

You have the power to change your life into something better! I didn’t think I would be one of those cheesey people who says those things, but it’s true, you can! And I wanna thank the people who made the The Secret, and everyone else who’s been saying the same things for years! You have the power.
