In April of 2010, I wrote myself a check for $172,500 because at that time, that amount is what I considered to be “not being greedy or selfish”. I focused on that amount for a long time. I won the lottery for many small wins several times but always seemed to miss the ‘big one’. My focus sometimes wavered but I knew that I was going to win the jackpot. I had always made it known to my close friends and family that it was one of my ultimate goals. My husband used to tell me that I need to be realistic or get back to reality.

Well, on August 11, 2013, the night of the Perseid Meteor showers, I told my daughter to come outside and make some wishes with me. That night the jackpot was over $500,000. I grabbed my computer to check my numbers, which was something I never did before, check my at night.

And lo and behold, I had won!! Woo hoo! Three people had won altogether and my portion was for $174,335! My lottery check was $1,835 more than the check I wrote to myself! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
