It’s Going To Be A Good Day
Submitted by: MD
MassachusettsA mother writing for her beautiful seven year old daughter.
The other day, my daughter came home on the bus from school in tears. I asked her what was wrong, and she told me that she had a terrible day. She said the kids were picking on her and she hadn’t had fun at recess and that she felt very alone without any friends. Now I knew she had many friends, but still had been having bad days. She went to bed that night and I decided the next morning I was going to tell her to intend that the day would be wonderful, and she could watch the day become wonderful in every way.
When I woke up in the morning we were running late. And I didn’t get the chance to tell her. So I went about my day thinking about her and sending her good thoughts and Magic Dusting her as best I could. She came home from school that afternoon and I ran to ask her how her day was. Good, she said. Then she told me this morning, on the bus, she decided to chant over and over and over to herself “It’s going to be a good day. It’s going to be a good day. It’s going to be a good day.”‘
She said not only did no one give her a hard time, but they had a pumpkin carving party in her class that afternoon and decided to do a contest of counting pumpkin seeds. As they were carving up their pumpkins, my daughter decided that she wanted to have the most pumpkin seeds. After every pumpkin had been carved and every pumpkin seed had been counted, my daughter found that she had not only the most seeds, but the most seeds by over 100. She came home in a wonderful mood and decided that from now on, on her way to school she would remember her chant “It’s going to be a good day”, and now she knew that if she said and believed it, it would always be true.
