When I first encountered The Secret back in 2007, I mostly used it for small things like parking slots and traffic-free roads. It wasn’t only until this year that I decided to take it seriously when it came to finding my soul mate.

I had been single for more than 3 years and actually came to a point that I was going to be an old maid till I met the love of my life. I had just turned 30 and wanted to settle down already. I had tons of male friends but for some reason, just never met anyone whom I thought I could really be with for the long term. So one day, I watched my old copy of The Secret and read the book from cover to cover. I decided it was time to bring it back into my life!

At the start of the year, I met someone promising at a party. I instantly liked the fellow and developed a crush on him. However, we had such different social circles that I figured I’d probably never see him again. Also, he was a bit of a local celebrity so I REALLY didn’t think he’d even give me the time of day. We soon became acquaintances but nothing really developed out of that for a few months. That’s when I decided to do all the things The Secret and the people on this website have been doing. I made a list of all the qualities I wanted in a man. I also made another list of what I loved about myself (and what makes me a great catch!). I slept on one side of the bed at night. I daydreamed constantly about the two of us together and gave thanks for an amazing relationship. Soon after, I started getting little signs from the Universe. I kept seeing his name pop out in conversations, street signs, emails, etc. I took them as signs that something good was coming. Lo and behold, I got a text message from him literally out of the blue–inviting me to hang out with his friends. We soon went from acquaintances to friends, something I never even thought would be possible. I gave thanks for all the little things–every text or call I’d receive, every invite, everything! It didn’t matter if we were simply hanging out as buddies. I was grateful!

After a few weeks, to be honest, there were times I’d get frustrated and impatient that nothing romantic was going on (because obviously I liked him so much). There were moments that I’d wonder if maybe the Universe was simply giving me a FRIEND in him. Was I wasting my time? Yet I continued with my visualizing and daily gratitude. More coincidences came. I’d run into the guy around town–consistently and in the oddest places. I got a bit freaked out with those times because come on, I barely even run into my close friends who live nearby. What were the chances? Again, I just took them as good signs and I told myself to be patient. But I decided to take it to the next level also in terms of Receiving. I bought clothes with our first date in mind and I learned how to make dishes I knew he liked.

Fast forward to 5 months since I started seriously practicing the Secret. I’m now–believe it or not–in a very happy relationship with the same guy. Our friendship deepened until one day, he told me he liked me! Even if I was expecting it, I was still stunned!

Looking back, I realize how the timing was really perfect. The best relationships are those built on friendship and solid trust. Not that I wouldn’t have minded us getting together right after we met (hehe), but I appreciate now how the last few months were spent on getting to know each other on a friendly level. When people see us together, they think we’re one of those couples who have been together for years because of how relaxed and comfortable we appear. The Universe knows when and how to let your dreams come true so that when they do arrive, the experience is even sweeter than anything you could have imagined.

I’ve waited a loooong time to find someone who I can actually call as my ideal dream guy. And even when I met my boyfriend, I really, TRULY never thought WE would ever be a couple. But I changed my thoughts, trusted my gut, stayed faithful to The Secret’s teachings and cleared my mind of doubts whenever they would enter.

I couldn’t be happier now and I continue to manifest this happiness by saying Thank You every day and filling my thoughts with all things positive.
